A Quiet Place (FULL MOVIE REACTION)

Hey guys!

It's been such a LONG time since we've checked out a horror movie on the channel and I have to say, this movie was DIFFERENT.

Terrifying, yes. Filled with jump scares, yes. But original, authentic, interesting, intriguing, YES!

Definitely not your typical horror movie, and I want to say thank you to everyone that voted for this movie. It won by an overwhelming majority in the polls! I can't wait to watch this with you all!

Love,

Alex

You should watch the other - All are on Paramount+

No, babies can’t cry in utero. They’re surrounded by amniotic fluid so it’s like they are underwater. After they are born the Dr stimulates them to make them cry so their lungs kick in, I’m sure you’ve seen the old timey things where they Dr holds the baby upside down and spanks their bottom to make them cry. They don’t do that anymore, they just rub vigorously and that should do it. Emily Blunt should have gotten an Oscar for this, she absolutely nailed it. So, the husband and wife in the movie are married in real life, the daughter is actually a deaf actress and the dad (John Krascinski) was the director. Amazing amazing movie. Now you have to watch A Quiet Place II because that starts with the alien invasion.

Christina Matzen

Damn I was wondering why you looked so confused and were guessing what they were signing lol

MasterElodin

He did surprisingly well given he basically had 0 dialogue lol

Hey guys! WTF!!! I didn't know there were subtitles in this movie?! Why the fuck were they not included in the original and instead something you had to turn on? Here's what I'm going to do. I am going to rewatch, so I understand the subtlties and then I'll keep in the original jump scares so it's as original as a reaction as possible! Sorry for the mixup

A baby receives oxygen in the womb via the umbilical cord from the placenta. I have delivered quite a few babies and I've seen them cry with just the head out but it normally takes a second for their lungs to inflate once born. An Apgar score is done at 1 and 5 minutes after birth the determine oxygenation of the baby. Good question though. Not everyone knows that.

Jessica Houser

It was still worth it. They are so expressive anyways, that I think a lot of their meaning comes through.

This is disheartening. Makes me not want to watch his reaction. The sign language portion of the movie is essential.

Yeah, I was wondering why he was confused about the girl not wanting the new hearing aids and why they were making the boy go with the dad when they had just explained that. Then at the end when the dad says "I love you. I have ALWAYS loved you" he said something like "I don't know what he just said but it sounded sweet" and it dawned on me what had happened. Actually, I think I've seen this happen to a reactor before with this movie, and the same thing happened to my family with the movie CODA for the first few minutes til we realized.

Megan the Librarian

That’s definitely what happened. During whispering scenes there were still subtitles but Alex was saying he couldn’t understand what the characters were saying.

Tyler Jones

Did you not have subtitles for the sign language???? Cuz if not, you missed like all of the dialog in this movie! I think there's a subtitle setting that only captions the spoken words and not the sign language because they figure that people using that setting are deaf or hard of hearing and probably know ASL. If you didn't have subtitles telling you what they were saying, you should totally go back and rewatch this on your own time because the dialog adds so much to the story. And yes, John Krasinksi and Emily Blunt are married in real life, but those kids are not theirs.

While I overall agree with the logical flaws here are some attempts to justify them. They are more quiet inside of the house because since it is quieter inside, every sound they make, they perceive as much louder compared to when they make them outside. So knowing that sounds will kill you you would naturally be hyperaware of the noises they make. So perceiving them as louder because of less background noise, would make you notice them instantly and try to avoid them. Also any animal or creature, that relies on sound to hunt would need to filter out natural sounds. If this thing went wild every time it heard leaves rustling in the wind it would be running after small useless sounds all day. So walking on sand outside is a much more natural sound than the sounds they would make in the house like plates etc. I 100% agree on the socks vs barefoot part. Except for when your feet get wet I suppose but yea socks would make a lot more sense most of the time. For why they dont go insane with water noise, it could be just a certain frequency they are weak to. Human ears also hurt from very high pitched sounds or they at least feel more uncomfortable than the rumbling of a waterfall. Also that water in the underground room was nowhere near the volume of a waterfall. Also the creatures appear to be locating things in their surroundings by sonar kind of like bats. It looks like they are sending out a sound and getting a feedback in their ears because her implant only made the high pitched sound when the creatures caused a feedback loop with their own sonar sounds. So maybe the sound that they send out is so optimized for their ears that when it is amplified it just resonates a lot more than others. Them being able to cut through a silo wall and not the car doesnt make sense unless I'm missing something, like different materials or smth but still probably just bs. And they didn't sink because they stopped moving while laying under the hatch/door. Thats why she tried to tell her brother to stop moving before that. I agree that it was overdramatized a little but the basic idea isn't that wrong I think. And the last part is because of a lot of factors. Possibly just stupidity. There are so unbelievably many accidental pregnancies today. It could have just been an accident for them as well. Then there is also the thought of probably not being able to survive for long enough to worry about a potential pregnancy. If you think you'll be dead in a month anyways why bother with birth control. Not to mention that there isn't infinite amounts of birth control in stores. And once this whole thing started people probably began looting/panic buying everything they can because thats just what happens as we saw a couple years ago. Also, if you know that your family is one of a few humans left alive on the earth you would maybe want to repopulate. For them personally its quite stupid to have a baby but there are lots of reasons to do it and also lots of reasons to just not care to do anything to prevent it. Anyways in the end its just a horror movie with an unrealistic premise. But thats 90% of all horror movies and also kind of the point of a movie. I agree that some of these could have been made more consistent but overall I think they kept it logically consistent to an amazing degree considering how original this scenario is.

MasterElodin

Should’ve watched bird box lol

I dislike horror movies as much as you do. But I love creature features. The husband and wife in this are married in real life. John was Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards, in Multiverse of Madness.

Brian Stanaland

Hate to break it to you, but every monster movie/horror movie is logically flawed.

LoganPool

No, a baby can't cry inside the womb, you need air in your lungs to make sound and inside the womb there's no air

Pistols O'Brien

To answer your question, yes we are sadists.

This was my first time watching this Movie. Man this Movie has some logical flaws. Like they have to be super quiet inside a house and sneak around to avoid making noise... But they can just walk normally outside over sand and leafs without any worries. So... why do they have to be more quiet inside a house... than outside a house? Because it's more quiet inside a house compared to outside a house? But that wouldn't make much sense because the monster are Outside the house and hear the noise outside, which should be louder than some people inside a house. Also it would be quieter if you put socks on your Feet instead of being barefoot. And if the Monster react to any loud noise, why don't they go crazy by the noise of loud water. Like in the basement... the monster was completely calm despite the loud water. Or do they care for any loud noise except water... Then there was also the part where the moster can pierce the metal of the Silo easily... but can't piece the Metal of Car. Also with the Silo where they just sink like Quicksand. But then when the Monster appears and they are under the Metal piece, they suddenly don't sink at all. And who would get the idea "ok, we live in a World where we can't make noise... you know what? lets make a baby"
