Gladiator FULL MOVIE REACTION!

Guys,

This is one of those movies even my friends can't believe I haven't seen it! It was long overdue, and I had such an incredible time watching this movie. This one actually brought me to tears. I think maybe 1 or 2, but still! That's a lot for me.

Gladiator FULL MOVIE REACTION!

The definition of Martyr you found was very, very incomplete. It is true that Martyrs are people who are killed for their beliefs or convictions. However, that isn't the issue in and of itself, and it isn't necessary that the Martyr die. There are many words for people who are killed for their beliefs. A Martyr is someone (or sometimes a group) whose death or treatment rallies more to their cause. Elevation to Martyrdom is usually the result of killing someone who is iconic in their relation to a cause. The Martyr's supporters and allies are in some sense empowered by the "unjust" treatment of the Martyr. You would consider people like Jesus, Justin Martyr (hence the name), Joan of Arc, William Wallace, Martin Luther King Jr., Tank Man and so on to be Martyrs. Groups like the victims of the Boston Massacre or the Holocaust have a sort of Martyrdom in the sense that the events surrounding their deaths drove vast sentiment against those who perpetrated them. And people like Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Llama are examples of people who have a certain Martyrdom in that, while they weren't killed, their treatment is considered profoundly unjust and undermines those who inflicted that treatment. So, it's more about the effect than the individual.

Gladiator is a great shot movie, but very historically inaccurate (like Braveheart)Commodus did fight as a gladiator, but usally the people he would fight were either handicapped, or fought with dulled swords. He was actually killed in 192, first they tried to posion him, but he survived and later killed by a fellowgladiator that helped teach him how to fight. And also Rome did not become a Republic after, but had worst and worst Ceasers, Commodus basically marked the start of the fall pf the Roman Empire.
