2022-06-19 17:44:09 +0000 UTCLoved your reaction--we seem to share the same opinion about this movie. Definitely not the MCU's greatest at this point, but not a TERRIBLE movie. The pacing's wonky (and I picked up on that pretty quick as a writer myself; whoever wrote this movie needs to go take a class on pacing and structure) and it felt like they were trying to do too much. But Loki really makes up for a lot of it, and it's probably pretty telling that I usually lose interest in the movie after Loki's "death" scene. Loki is one of the most intriguing characters in the MCU, and he's a joy to watch. I can't wait until next week when you watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It starts off the period where the Russo brothers were directing some of the MCU movies, and the ones they directed are hands down some of the best of the entire series. Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame...those are seriously some of the best of all of the movies, because those guys really know what they're doing, and their approach to directing is so fun to watch. :D

The Dark World for the longest time was considered the worst of the MCU--it had the lowest rating on Rotten Tomatoes until not long ago when The Eternals finally bested it. I've never been a HUGE fan of The Dark World, but I've never really thought it was as terrible as some make it out to be. EDIT: Since you're confused about the Frigga / Loki thing--Frigga was raised by witches, if I recall correctly, and she's the one who taught Loki how to do the magic he knows how to do.
