New Patreon System: Clarifications

Hi all,

I'm sure you've all already received this update in your email from the Patreon team.

Just wanted to clarify on the new system of 'Service Fees'; I don't approve of it very much, and I am certain you do not either.

Processing fees of everyone who have pledged, as well as Patreon's 5% fee, is traditionally something the Creator covers.

Around 7% - 15% are taken out from my monthly earnings to fully cover all these processing fees, but it ensures what you pledge (excluding government VAT) is exactly what you wish to pledge.

---

Patreon is trying to go for a more Creator-centric approach by streamlining these processing fees through 'encouraging' Patrons to cover these fees - basically, that 7%-15% volatility of lost earnings will be fixed at 5% every month.

Unfortunately
, the way they have decided to go around it is by forcing it upon pretty much everyone here, and it doesn't give the option for Creators to decide whether or not they want to willingly take the hit for their Patrons, or for Patrons to decide if they want to pay the extra bit or not.

---

As of now, I have my own stance on the matter, and I'm sure it's not sitting very well with the community.

Depending on the mindset, some Creators might be happy, some not, some Patrons might be happy, some not, certainly, but I'm hoping this won't be as concrete as it seems, or at least, be subject to changes after a trial run.

I hope you can bear with me here.

---

As a final bit to conclude, if these fees are a bit too much to handle (especially those who are already paying VAT on top of that), you are welcome to move to a lower tier if you feel it is not financially sustainable, or if worst comes to worst, unpledge; I will understand completely.

But if you stay on, know that I'm very grateful. I'm around another difficult half-a-year away from graduating (probably longer away from having a fixed income), and all your help has been helping to keep the water flowing and electricity running around here. I couldn't ask for more, thank you everyone.

Things will be as normal, dubious content of fetishistic nature, fresh off the processors, will be provided as always.

TL;DR:

Service Fees, not so nice for Patrons. I don't like it, but Patreon is adamant in rolling in this new system.

I do get a bit extra every month because of this arrangement, but I would  prefer an option where Creators can choose to use either the new or old (current) system, where I cover everyone's transaction fees at the end of every month. I'm used to it, and I see it as more fair.

I hope you can bear with me here, and I'm also hoping community response will prompt some changes when a trial of this new system is over.

In the meantime, things will go on as always!
More fun to be had, more porn to be made and shared with you all. :)

Patreon is going to HAVE to fix this mess; I hope soon.

Yeah, they reaaaally didn't think this through tbh, especially considering a single Patron is likely to have multiple pledges. Charging for each and every one of these pledges is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure community outcry will change things, we will see.

I have already deleted 20 of my 1$ pledges to counter that extra 21$ that would come from my 60 1$ pledges with .35$ fee I'm not a fan of having to pay extra to pledge and if patreon keeps on doing stupid shit like this I might stop altogether.
