Companion System
Added 2025-03-17 23:05:49 +0000 UTCFor Act 3 moving forward, I want to create some sort of companion system that allows you to have an ally in the city. They'll have unique dialogue and reactions to certain events and will likely provide talents or abilities that can help with or bypass certain challenges that arise.
I already have several planned, but I want to know your guy's thoughts and ideas.

2025-03-19 12:12:45 +0000 UTCI think a female goblin former breeder character would be fun and interesting. You could either try to teach them about the world or take advantage of their breeding identity. Could lead to many interesting scenarios!

They can also bring a lot of depth in so being flawed characters, with certain wants and traits that influence their own goals outside of your own. The snooty elf follower is definitely on my todo list now lol.

While my first thought was nervousness of the extra variables it might bring, I'd say keeping things contained (certain events and challenges, one ally, etc) definitely makes this feasible. I had to remind myself it likely wouldn't be unique reactions to EVERY event (something I know I'd attempt, lol), and so this sounds like a fun inclusion in a game already full of fun variety. In terms of suggestions, I'd love to see some bad ends caused BY companions, based on your choices and/or form. It could be companions coercing you into certain things (Rex'd definitely try to bimbofy you, or even make you a fellow dudebro bull), a price for them helping out (like selling your soul to a demonic follower), or even warping your identity by proxy (some of my FAVOURITE endings have you TF, and then gradually lose yourself to the form around others). It'd make hunting for variations even more interesting: the snooty elf companion might be cold and rude to most forms, but if you're a fellow elf, they might open up and try to "recruit" you to their clique...
