Heres a BUNCH of CUTE PICS of me in my Yukata, a lighter summertime kimono made of cotton vs the traditional silk.
It was a challenge putting it on by myself but I think I managed to do an ok time for my first time. The obi is def the hardest part, that's the pink piece of fabric holding it all together in the middle. It took a few tries to get it, tying an obi is an art form unto itself and there are several ways to do it :D
Walking in kimono also takes a moment to get used to because it restricts your movement but it didn't take too long to adjust to having a shorter stride and walking at a slower pace.
We had just missed the cherry blossoms but were right on time for the AZALEAS this year ^-^
I def recommend hitting up Gyeon Park if you're ever in the Shinjuku area. It is 500 yen to get in and has a beautiful traditional Japanese Garden and other cute spots like this tea house where you can get a delicious cup of matcha paired with a lil mochi action.
Looking forward to wearing my new fit to the Obon festival this summer in Little Tokyo <3
