My favourite tool of the year! (Safety AP2)

Hey all!!

As promised first video, I'll publish the other laser one later, so get extra popcorn ready!

This honestly blew me away, it's such a leap forward for air filtering - I look forward to seeing lots of imitation versions from other brands in the coming months!

Oh and xTool have already come back to say they've taken the feedback on opening up its API, so they're going to look at this!!

Enjoy!

There was a 10% discount offered, no not quite $100, but still nice to have. Will definitely let you know how we find it!

Oh no you definitely want to order it separately - did you get the discount for having an existing xTool product?? I hope so, as that makes it super keen prices!! I'll check about the affiliates link - I 'think' it should track regardless, but I'm a bit clueless on it all!!! Do keep me posted about how you find it, I'm excited for you and your daughter!!

Wish I had watched this video before I ordered my M1 Ultra as I would have added this to the purchase as well! But... I did learn one key thing that you may want to know: Your links are to the UK xTool site. As I'm in the US it suggests I hop to their US site. But... this time I noticed that when it does this is _removes_ your affiliate tag! Fortunately, I caught it this time and with a bit of copy/paste put the affiliate link back in! So hopefully you'll get some credit from this purchase! 😁

Sorry another thought I've got, is it's super portable too, so another option could be to have it moveable - eg roll it over to connect to the resin printers, then move to the laser cutters as required - I could design some magnetic click on port connectors, so it takes seconds!

Ah, sorry John I misunderstood your point (I was just answering a YT comment which I think they'd misunderstood it as some sort of generic air filter!) Yes, you're exactly right, this is precisely what I'm trying to work out at the moment - I'm going to need some fun tests on this - eg smoke flow testing!!! What I'm thinking is I'll build an acrylic windowed section that houses all the devices I want to vent, then I'll need to add an 'in and out' vent for the workshop itself using duct fans. Then I might actually centralise the AP2 to be a filter for any residual particles. I'll put an air quality sensor inside this unit which will let me have smart alert on air quality, so I won't open the unit until it's safe (eg red vs green LEDs) LOADS to think through still though - including the airflow requirements for this 'tunnel' of devices

I guess I'm wondering how effective it would be in your new shop. With FDM along one wall, then the laser and perhaps the spray paint booth at the other end. What size room before it's ineffective?

John Dammeyer

I'm actually trying to work out how I can attach this to multiple devices in my new workshop - it'd be amazing at handling the VOCs from the Resin printer too. It wouldn't do any harm to also vent the FDM printer fumes (even if they're pretty low with PLA/PETG)... such a conundrum!

Well it's less the room, more the device - basically this just makes any laser smoke, odor, nasties free. Hence I can use them in my craft room without any issues! Nothing actually ever escapes - so it works in any room!

Interesting. But how small does the room have to be for it to be effective?
