Too much exciting stuff!!!
Added 2024-11-16 21:49:11 +0000 UTCHey all, I just had to release this soon or it'd become completely out of date!
As you can tell, I actually recorded this with my fresh thoughts straight after the Herbus video, I've just been so busy I've not had a chance to get around to it until now!!
This covers off a few extra thoughts and behind the scenes bits from the Herbus video - I've got the test files ready, but I've got a few hours left to build a dedicated webpage on my site as there's been masses of interest. In addition, I'm also planning with some of my awesome discord gang to build a parametric version, so you can just enter the width, height and depth you fancy and it'll generate your own custom Herbus! So this means:
If you're super desperate - message/email me and I'm happy to share the files
If you're slightly desperate - wait a few days and I should have the web page with better instructions and changelog
If you're chilled - give me a few weeks and we can share the parametric version that incorporates all the cool ideas I've heard from the comments and ideas from folks!
I may have been a bit quieter recently, but I've not been quiet, in fact you need to brace yourself - four videos coming in the next two weeks - in fact five if you count a short!
I wanted to get them all out for Black Friday as I've been getting loads and loads of questions about various devices as people are wanting to watch out for the deals of the year, hence I thought I'd push these out before!
Best Laser Cutter Video - now I've had continuous questions about this, indeed several emails and discord questions whilst I was actually recording this, so this is my answer!! xTool are my 'Bambu Lab' of laser cutting, but which laser requires a bit more thought.....
Secret new device I've been testing
This is an awesome new safety device that has got to be the best-designed product I've seen in 2024, it's been targeted at the laser cutting market, but I think that's wildly missing the full potential market - basically if you solder, paint, 3d print, sand or breathe - you need this.
Hidden Smart Tech
There's lots of tech that by design you don't see and this is often missed off videos
Hands on Katie Awards
I actually have no idea how I'm going to do this, but it'll involve wine, gin and glam dresses - I wanted to find a way to call out all the cool little tech items that I love from this year, so this will let me do quick 'shout outs' to some of these excellent tech items from 2024 - whilst acting like a complete daftie!
(I could see this one getting out of control!)
Workshop
The insulation and plywood has arrived for the roof and floor, so I'm racing to get the roof on before the forecast snow arrives this coming week!!! Fingers crossed and, if I manage this, then there's a whole world of exciting stuff coming from there - I've spent over a year thinking, designing and planning the ultimate workshop, so I hope you're going to love it!! I'm even planning a smart workshop cabinet designer that you can pinch to make your own!
And all that and I haven't even mentioned the upcoming Underware 2.0 video, the top secret Wonderwall project and more!!
So all in all, super quiet!!!
Thanks so much as always for all your kind comments and support!!
Katie
Comments
Love the ideas for future videos! HOK Awards will I'm sure be a riot and I'm sure we are all much looking forward to that! And yes, please, on the Hidden Tech!

2024-11-17 20:19:40 +0000 UTCAw thank you John, that's very kind - it's a great idea to put that in the workshop, I might pinch that idea and use it as a daily inspiration for me!!

2024-11-17 09:14:55 +0000 UTCKatie, you are simply the Da Vinci of our time. The way you seamlessly weave together technology, philosophy, design, engineering, manufacturing, and every artistic discipline known to humankind, all with boundless creativity, curiosity, humor, and passion, is nothing short of miraculous. Leonardo had a sign above his workshop that read "La mia fabrica". I think your new shop should have a sign above the entrance that reads the same (or maybe the Welsh translation instead?) to acknowledge your kinship with another great thinker/maker who dared to push the outer limits of human achievement. I don't know what you'll do next, but I have no doubt it will be amazing, and will likely involve wielding a dead-blow hammer at some point. You are so inspiring to so many, and I hope knowing that in turn inspires you to keep up the hard work of creating all your wonderful content and sharing your vision and accomplishments (and occasional failures) with us. Now, where's that gin?

2024-11-17 00:00:08 +0000 UTCI had a proper LOL moment for BazzaBung! :D I'm sure my neighbours think I'm a loony, from all the insane cackling... To be fair, I can't really say they're wrong! O_o

2024-11-16 22:27:42 +0000 UTCDon't worry, I'll batter you into submission...!! Brill idea for the TPU - I can't say I've tested waterproofing on TPU, I can't see why it wouldn't be watertight, so I feel a test coming on as that could be handy for loads of things in future - I'll officially call it a BazzaBung if I use it in a video.... ;) Yes, that filter has SIX stages - I've never seen anything like it, it's extraordinary and solves basically all my annoyances I've ever had with air filters/dust extractors in the past! Amazing device!

2024-11-16 22:21:41 +0000 UTCOh no! More laser cutter temptation in the future! How will I resist? For the Herbus, You could add some TPU grommets to the pipe holes, once you've finalised the placement of all the things. They would hold the pipes in place securely, and also allow them to flex a little. I'm not sure if the TPU would make the seal watertight? I guess that would be a bonus if it did :D The underware bits would hide all the piping away neatly Awards: Livestream drunk Katie FTW? I'm helping! How many stages does that filter have? It looks insane! In a good way Good luck with the roof! Edit: Ooh, a video on the hidden smart tech would be cool! It's always nice to know about those sorts of things, I even sometimes find them cooler than the big ticket items Also, if you want/need a hand testing aspects of the herbus, I'm happy to help. The only thing I can't do is the acrylic cutting
