Any Warhammer, Cosplay or Model-painting experts out there???

Hey lovely bunch,

I've modelled this little treasure chest for my daughter and printed it out and now I'm starting to paint it.

I'm looking for tips/ideas on best way to weather it and make the metal look..... well like metal!

So anyone with mad skillz out there, let me know so I can hound and stalk you for all your knowledge!!🎨⚔️

I use metallic paints, then apply a dark Citadel shade, then drybrush the highlights with a lighter metallic to brighten the ridges

Ooh my Vallejo paints arrived yesterday! I'll look at Molotow too! I love all these paints, they're super clever! Good tip on the washing out, I'll try that!

I've heard great stuff about Vallejo metallic paints. I use Molotow Liquid Chrome which is almost like a mirror - they also have a liquid gold that has similar shine. Once you have the metal laid down, a wash of brown ink or yellow varnish will help to bed in the colour, and make it look old.

Thanks Mumble! I think I've already experienced that rabbit hole! 🤣 There's definitely 100 best ways to do this!!! True Metal sounds great!

True metal by AK gives some great finishes if primed with a black primer, it goes on Matt and can be buffed after 10-15 mins to give a nice finish. I found that YouTube turns into a rabbit hole as there's 1000's of different methods and too many talented hobbyists out there making me spend my money..... I'll use it eventually is what I constantly tell myself!
