Though there is tragedy in all the books they’re not all tragedies/the pain isn’t omnipresent, esp w Lestat’s and his books as there’s plenty of fun and humor. Even w IWTV it’s gothic, so yes there’s pain and brooding but it’s usually also beautiful and/or existentially processed. One quote about Louis that I love is “He wears woe as others wear velvet; sorrow flatters him like the light of candles; tears become him like jewels.” In other words, he feels pain often and deeply, but it’s not always painful to read/watch.

The “I realized the drum was my heart, and the other drum was his” monologue and Lestat sexually saying Louis’ sorrow is “voluminous” are what hooked me! Can’t wait for the rest :).

"it's like twilight but in the 1900s"? the book franchise is nothing but tragedy and pain i wish we had half the lightheartedness twilight had 😭❤️ also it's such funny timing for this to be released now because my copy of the vampire lestat just got shipped to me today. about to re-read my favorite book in the series in preparation for s3 👀 (p.s it's funny you brought up brad pitt because brad plays louis in the movie version of iwtv)
