I feel that dougie was quiet because he was feeling a bit awkward in this interview because the hiatus started when he went to america?

the fact this interview was filmed in 2019 and they had a tour planned for 2020 🤣 poor guys just wanted to be on stage again but the big C happened. and also you're so right, i think Tom talked about the fact that they used to be so so so big get in his head of how to make the next number one that he forgot this was about just making music with his friends and having fun. glad they overcame that mindset and are now having the time of their lives

If you want to be surprised: RED was one of the songs that was almost shelved.
As for McBusted it really was a right place right time thing. What happened is some time in 2013 James Bourne was hanging out backstage at a McFly gig (they were likely writing together), and the McFly guys dared him to go on stage. James didn’t really want to because it had been almost 9 years at that point since Busted broke up and he thought no one would remember the songs. He went out on stage, played two songs (everything I knew & year 3000) and the crowd went bloody wild (if you want to see it the video is on YouTube but it’s shit quality).
James then very hyper from that went yapping to Matt, and McFly done their 10 year anniversary tour at the Royal Albert Hall. I’m not sure on the background of it all but both James & Matt joined them on stage as a surprise and done 3 songs (Year 3000 which is a Busted song, Air Hostess which is also a Busted song that Tom cowrote on, and Shine a light which is a McFly song). If anything the crowd was even wilder.
In short: they saw a massive gap in the market due to this, and put on a “small” tour of 11 dates…which sold out in minutes (I somehow managed to get a ticket and I still have no idea how the hell I succeeded)…they added more dates and they sold out in minutes…then more got added and they also sold out in minutes. It ended up being a 35 date tour including Hyde Park.
