2024-08-21 00:16:04 +0000 UTCIn answer to some of your questions and other tidbits: Red Desert - Ashton said "it's about spiritual enlightenment, weβve never written about that, about having a muse, chasing the creative trial that weβre all on or leaving all of your self-conscious doubts behind and evolving as a human and becoming bigger than you ever thought you could be and proud of yourself and owning what you are." Also red desert is a nod to the Simpson Desert in Australia. No Shame - yes I agree Black Hole Sun definitely similarities! Old Me - few Easter Eggs in this one. Specifically, some of the locations are actually from their journey at the start as well as a shout out to One Direction who are the group of kids that sit opposite them on the train briefly. Teeth - Tom Morello played the guitar solo at the end. Wildflower - the reason for the starkly different video is all down to Covid. They were due to film a video in a warehouse and then Covid hit and everything had to change and this included them having to release and try to promote this album whilst everything was locked down. Also, they don't sing the missing words in the chorus live. Best Years - The Edge plays the guitar on the bridge. Lover of Mine - co-written with Luke's wife Sierra. Thanks again for the great reaction - as others have said the Feeling of Falling Upwards is very special (someone will need to give you a link though as it was live streamed only). The 10 year anniversary show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUV-HmHHbVo&t=9s) is awesome because they produced this especially for their fans. The next album backwards "Youngblood" is very retro sonically. Their lyricism continues to improve with each release - it's something they pride themselves on and you will see that uncovered further in both Luke and Ashton's solo albums.

2024-08-20 14:08:47 +0000 UTC5SOS formed in 2011. CALM is their 4th album and when it came out in 2020 they had been together for almost 9 years.

2024-08-20 12:49:17 +0000 UTCCALM is an instrumentation masterpiece! Red Desert has the most beautiful harmonies! Red Desert is the Australian outback. The No Shame music video is so wild and creepy (but then again it's 5SOS so I wasn't that surprised lol). The lyrics are a of society. Old Me is a throwback (literally)! It has a tribute to One Direction. The old 5SOS videos at the end made me cry! The fanbase prefers the 'The Vault' version of Easier and I agree. This version is too Charlie Puth for me. That baseline live is the death of me!! That's a synth-bass on Teeth. "That was wild" transitions into Wildflower haha The music video was filmed during lockdown! The animations works for well for a 80s song, I love it! It's not censored, it's meant for the fans to fill in the blanks with whatever they want. The fact that this is the only song on the album not with Luke as the lead singer is still crazy to me. Lover on Me is my favorite on the album. I heard it live in 2022 and it was an incredible experience, I was so emotional I was shaking! 5SOS knows how to make a beautiful love song/ballad. High is so Beatles it's crazy! Kill My Time is underrated, I love this song. I still can't believe it wasn't on the album at first and they added it later on as a bonus track, crazy. It's the perfect closer! PS: 5SOS is a musician's band. Each of them knows how to play different instruments.

2024-08-20 12:46:16 +0000 UTCDefinitely want you to check out a live 5SOS concert. They do play songs from all of their albums so I personally would wait until you checked out all of their albums (including b-sides and EPs) but that's gonna take a while. So if you don't care, just go for it! On their channel they have the "5SOS show, Live from Amsterdam" which is their most recent live concert. They also have the "10 year anniversary" show, "The Feeling of Falling Upwards" (orchestra and choir) and "How did we end up here" (documentary and live show which covers album 1 & 2) Whichever you decide to watch, I'm looking forward to your reaction!

2024-08-20 11:51:09 +0000 UTCI second either of these recommendations! Both are amazing in different ways. The Feeling of Falling Upwards is truly magical. The 10 year anniversary show is just a great time!

2024-08-20 06:50:46 +0000 UTCThey definitely are a musician's band for sure. I've seen them live several times now, they're amazing live. As far as live links, they did a concert called The Feeling of Falling Upwards that they performed with a live orchestra. They also did a 10 year reunion special that's on youtube that includes live performances but also has skits and commentary that can help you get to know them better as individuals. There are a few other live shows but those are two that I always recommend.
