Take That didn't kick Robbie out during the Progress tour though. He left after it finished (let's face it, he was always going to go solo again) and has performed with them since, for example when they did their musical The Band. I love Take That with or without Robbie, their live shows are the best.

He doesn’t show it, but Robbie has struggled with stage fright. He quit the reunion because he was afraid he couldn’t handle it (but then changed his mind). I think the other members were kind of checking on him. You could see how nervous he was at the beginning. Truly recommend the documentary-the story of Take That and Robbie is amazing. I also love to see people be able to own their mistakes, forgive, and rebuild. I think there was a lot of forgiveness from each member. (To be fair to Gary, Robbie was pretty brutal to him for several years, but he also admitted he basically always only wanted Gary’s approval). It’s a lovely story, actually.

There’s a great documentary about this reunion. It’s honestly such a Hollywood story. I love Robbie but also love Take That. I’m so glad they were able to fix their friendship. https://youtu.be/db8fItIlRyE?si=x7RhsiS-6wjIpRCc

Robbie is a massive tool with an ego much bigger than his talent. The group was built around leader Gary Barlow, the biggest talent who also writes the songs. They were fine without Robbie, he wanted back in, wanted all the attention and because the others are genuinely good guys they let him have for a bit. He became so awful that halfway through the tour they unanimously kicked him out and they are still amazing and sell out every date they book. The core three have been Take That for years now and they are amazing. Their performance at the London Olympics is epic, as is their Carpool Karaoke (James Corden is a massive Take That / Gary Barlow stan). The other members were toning down their own incredible stage presence for Robbie’s ego in this performance. Watch them without him and see how amazing they are. Will send some links. There’s one that makes me happy every time I see it. Gary Barlow does huge solo tours every year around Nov/Dec that are sell outs. James Corden’s dream is to be in Take That so at a big show in London while filming the excellent BBC documentary When Corden Met Barlow he brings James out to perform Take That’s hit Pray and James knows all the choreography. https://youtu.be/QfYH4JAtLxE?si=evhPGN9JD1uSwaRu

OMG!!! I loved this group back in the day and love that they continue. But, yet again, born in the wrong country… catch wait to watch this later after work!

You should watch Shame which is kind of Robbie and Gary’s make up song to each other when this reunion happened. 😊

🙂 Just watched it. Yes, Robbie's stage presence is something else. Gary, the blonde on the end, is actually the main guy usually. Mark, in the middle, and Robbie were really close the first time round, so he's just buzzing and happy his friend is back, which is why he's always smiling at him. There was quite a nasty fallout between Robbie and Gary after Robbie left that lasted years, so I think the reunion was something no-one ever thought was possible ...
