Taylor Swift - Cardigan / August / Willow Live at the Grammy's

This performance was awesome!!!!

Comments

Iโ€™m late watching this but the guy with the longer light color hair is Aaron Dessner. Singer/songwriter, producer and part of rock group The Nationals as well as a group with Bon Iver call Big Red Machine. Taylor actually sang a song for Big Red Machine called Renegade with Bon Iver as backing vocals. Kinda like Exile but less prominent. Taylor has worked with Aaron since Folklore and he even collaborated on a couple of the Vault tracks for the re-recording of her Red Album. Jack Antonoff Iโ€™m sure you know is from the band The Bleachers. Heโ€™s also a writer, producer and Taylor has worked with him since her 5th album 1989 but not as heavily until Folklore. Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and TTPD were produced entirely by Taylor, Jack and Aaron. Aaron is more of a piano composer but does do some guitar and the opposite is the case for Jack Jack and Aaron won their first producer Grammys on Taylorโ€™s albums for Folklore and Midnights

You could react to Taylor Swift's Miss Americana documentary, it's really cool

Emyly

I think we need an evermore album reaction ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

I think "grocery line" was indeed referring to seeing them everywhere..but also, for T specifically, she'd be sure to see her famous exes on the magazine covers at checkout... the line also ties neatly (IMO) to the next "I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired" like and expiration date on milk or groceries. The line reminds me of a similar line from Sabrina Carpenter which says "you used a fork once...turns out forks are fucking everywhere"...just unable to avoid reminders of the last person you want to be thinking about.

If you love the music that Taylor, Jack and Aaron make then you're really going to want to check TTPD when it comes out. She brought the team back together for the new album, plus features with Post Malone and Florence Welch.

Thank you! Who's Billy??? lol

It was filmed during a time when Covid restrictions had loosened but were still in place. So it was filmed on a set and the quick glance of the crew show they were spread out and no apparent audience.

Melody P

Yes, that's my take on it, too. She's in grocery lines and glimpses someone that looks like him, only it's not...and his shadow continues to follow her.

Melody P

Betty is the 3rd in the triangle (dang, autocorrect) ;)

Melody P

For me, "chasing shadows in the grocery line" means that she thinks she sees him everywhere (but he's not really there). I think it fits perfectly with a lot of her other songs that talk about being "haunted" by past loves: "I thought I saw you at the bus stop, I didn't though." "I see your profile and your smile on unsuspecting waiters." "Can't turn back now, I'm haunted." "I guess sometimes we all get, some kind of haunted." "Wondered how many girls he had loved and left haunted." and more!

In case you want to check out one of Taylor's producers Jack Antonoff's band The Bleachers. He is currently touring. This song rocks: Modern Girl. https://youtu.be/6HbrymTIbyg?si=A4FpoAWRAX-qjdoj

I love this medley! So glad she teamed up with Jack and Aaron. People ask "what's your favorite TS song?" My answer is: Depends on y mood lol.

Koreamkimmie

My interpretation is really similar to yours. Iโ€™ve always taken โ€œchasing shadows in the grocery lineโ€ to mean you are haunted by that person. You think you see them in strangers in the grocery line, or walking past you on the street but they were never there.

Shania Albornoz

The checkout line at the grocery store. At least thatโ€™s what Iโ€™ve always thought she meant lol

LeAnna

LETS FUCKING GO!!

LOVE this! I get suuuch a strong sense from Aaron that he is so super focused on his instrument during Willow because it's a huge, huge audience, playing out on broadcast! I love them all so much, Long Pond made me want to protect and cherish all three of them haha, but especially Aaron. (I get that he's a performer and the band is superb and they probably do big shows but I just get a strong shy sense from him, IDK! They're strangers and I don't know them I do get that, I promise)

TTPD RELEASE WEEK BABYYY

rit

About chasing shadows, this whole time I thought it was chasing shadows in the grocery aisle lol and it made so much sense to me (seeing somebody who is not there or when you think itโ€™s someone you know but itโ€™s not), but โ€œlineโ€ doesnโ€™t compute now ๐Ÿง Help

Elena

I think it would be quite fun to do her discography in order but I donโ€™t want to hinder the excitement and hype of a new release for anyone!

Jenny V

Definitely donโ€™t put this on YouTube, Grammy channel likes to take them down. You mentioned doing the documentary next but she has a new album coming out this Friday so if you want to get on thatโ€ฆ I wouldnโ€™t be opposed is all Iโ€™m saying ๐Ÿ˜‚

Jenny V

Very normal, folklore hits home with me. Which made me really dive deep into her other albums

Meredith Mettetal

Watch billy too after watching august and cardigan, it's a love triangle story
