MyFly - All About Us Documentary

Well, this made me freaking love this band even more!

MyFly - All About Us Documentary

I think when the threat of losing Dougie came back they really realized what was important. Dougie attempted suicide back in I believe 2011 (during his first addiction struggle) so when they knew he was taking stuff again and back in a bad place...I think that really scared them. Their brotherhood is one of the reasons that I love them so much because the atmosphere it creates when they are performing is just so special. Thank you for taking the time to react to the documentary because it really does a good job of summing up what they went through together.

loved this! Can I request as a Sunday treat you upload your mcfly musical reaction?

FulltimeGoose

Thankyou for showing how awesome they are together

(Also one last thing: I don't mean that Mcfly has been consistently compared to the Beatles in a musical sense, but more on the popularity side which includes with fans as well as with the charts)

Grammar as well as both sentence and though structure of all of this are pretty crap, but I think you can grasp what I'm saying for the most part. If you can't: comment and I'll be more than happy to chat and untangle whatever knot you have about what I've said@

That damned enter w/o adding a shift!!: Seriously, I can vividly remember and repeat drum and bass lines from almost all of Mcfly's songs and there are a good amount where the songs come to be bass and drums first. That doesn't happen often with other bands. If you want to compare to other bands within the "boy band" genre (which Mcfly was relegated to for most of their existence), they were and are incredibly unique in their ability to have a very active and involved drum and bass section. Really this was probably unique to them in the era they were biggest at because D&B weren't a focus and usually the people who wrote and played those parts weren't named or known as a part of the band or music the band performed with. Now this is basically stream of consciousness, but I think Mcfly filled a really unique space. They were a boy band, but all of the band members played and wrote their own music and although there were favorites with fans, there wasn't really competition between members - both with fans and within the band. It wasn't like N'Sync or One Direction which were so focused on producing a "boy band" and all of the main members were known as singers and maybe guitarists (not to knock either band, they were just constructed different). They were a boy band which wasn't organically created from a friend group randomly, but they had the feeling of that being true to a point that I don't think almost any "boy band" has on their level since Mcfly's beginning. Now I really do feel as if I'm rambling a bit. I just have loved this band for a long time and their music has really informed the sort of music I've enjoyed for a looooong time and I don't get many opportunities to talk with other people about it. I really don't want to compare the Beatles and Mcfly because I have some issues with the Beatles, their members and their music, but because they've been compared for so long, I think it's fairly apt to at least examine the connection Mcfly has been between the Beatles era of "boy bands" and the current era. In a way I think they were the last dying breaths of the idea of what a "boy band" is in the way the Beatles were and have now transcended that position and become a really solid band that I sort of casually define as part of the "explorers of rock" genre.4

Accidentally hit enter: He is not a bassist you can just replace, for their personal relationship, but I think also because Dougie is 1) an excellent musician & bassist, 2) can write good songs - lyrically and musically, and 3) had a vision for the band - and himself/the music he created - that was an intrinsic part of what they have come out with. I really credit Dougie and Harry with my wide musical taste. Really. I can't really do most pop music today because the bass & drum are almost so damn often there to keep a specific tempo/fell and add a bit of depth when the vocals and guitar are aligned. But the drum and bass section of Mcfly are so damn much more than that. Harry and Dougie not only keep tempo and fill out the structure of the scale they're working within, but they bring an exceptional amount of depth and creativity to the songs they help create and eventually play.

I haven't watched all the way through yet, but I've got ADHD so I'm gonna comment before I forget - you may have touched on this. The bass lines in Mcfly songs are ACTIVE AS HELL. Especially in some of their earlier songs, Dougie is walking all over his bass and often had sort of counter and supportive melodic moments. What Dougie does on bass, especially for what has been mostly relegated to "early 2000s pop rock band", is really damn awesome.

So... Did you know they have a movie called Nowhere left to run? e.e It's really fun cause you know, they're not actors lmao so they're acting as themselves and the behind the scenes are even more funny

man i cried again

Gahh great reaction! 👍🏻 ❤️

Really respect that they didn't replace Dougie and carry on without him, seeing them each as much as the band as each other. Back in the day it felt like you either could be big in to McFly or Busted, so it's funny they came together so you could be a fan of both! Busted would be a good one to look in to, also One Direction. Mcfly boys wrote One Direction songs "Irresitable" and "I Want" and Co wrote "Don't Forget Where You Belong" with them

I’m honestly so happy you’re a fan of m fly and you’re loving the music so far! Mcfly has literally been my entire life: I was 3 when they first released “5 Colours in her hair”, I’m now 23 and I just went and saw them again on Halloween! I’ve literally grown up with their music, my older sister having been a fan of there meant that there albums were constantly being played. Some of their songs have such nostalgic memories attached to them for me. I appreciate the time you’re putting in to learn more about them and I can’t wait for your next mcfly reaction!!
