This concert Blew my MIND!!!!!

Going to leave the old one up for a moment if you'd like to copy and paste your comments in here to talk :) Sorry for the issues

ONE OK ROCK - Ambitions Japan Tour 2018 (FIXED)

Comments

Taka was sick so the concert was delayed for an hour. He was really tired by the end of the concert because he usually runs fast towards Tomoya but his run was slower than usual but showman that he is, he did his run and then collapsed.

Jolene Nakamatsu

We Are hits different when you know what came before, right? What a finale!

Elizabeth Youtsey

really appreciate it

LOL right!?!?! I am so freaking stoked but this just goes to show the power of our community and positivity! (and like hours of emails and phone calls lol!)

John Reaves

Im late to this but now I'm hearing you say the only thing you want in life is to see them there live and a month later YOUR FUCKING GOING!! Im so happy for you! One Ok Rock is the type of group and musicians that music was made for. OOR, The Rose, and BTS are exactly what music is for. This concert and NCT Nation To The World they just did in Japan with 70k people are like 8th wonder of the world level concerts!!

Alison Renaud

I'm at my cabin in the the norwegian woods/mountains. Everyone else, both guests and family has gone to bed and I'm finally having some time for myself. Enjoying a glass of wine and watching this. Great concert!

TuttaSB

Nagisaen concert for sure!!

sheninggg

This was awesome! And thank you for the English subs... What a pleasure to finally understand what they are saying. I love their funny interactions on stage. I would love to suggest Nagisaen 2016 for the next reaction or any documentary you can find out there. Thanks so much for doing this, John, it 's so much fun!

Karo

Fun Fact when Taka sang for the first time the song "nobody's home" he actually cried on Stage.

Luvear Gaia

I'm so so grateful to the person who translated this, I didn't know he said it was the last time they'd perform Nobody's Home here, but when I think about it it's true, they haven't since. Had me tearing up, not gonna lie. It's such a wild concert with many epic moments. I love that they keep surprising us every time. When you think they can't possibly exceed your expectations again, they somehow still manage to. They're so special. My suggestions for your next concert is Nagisaen 2016, Luxury Disease 2023 (their next time in Tokyo Dome), or Eye of the Storm 2019. They are all amazing. Mighty Long Fall from 2014 is a treat too. So much to look forward to!

Emma

Such a great concert. He's really sick in that concert but still, we got to witness taka with a raspy voice haha. I really recommend you to watch luxury disease dome tour for your next one ok rock concert reaction because in my opinion, I think in this era, Taka has the most perfect voice, stamina and technic. And you got to see Toru rap again in a long time too.

I was so grateful for the English subs because I have seen this concert over 8 times but couldn't translate what he says in Japanese. The concert was even more awesome with the subs. They were very unhappy with their performance in Tokyo Dome. I don't understand it because I thought it was pretty awesome but they were not satisfied. That is why they really went all out in the Tokyo Dome concert in April, 2023. I thought this concert had the best instrumentals ever. I thought this was Tomoya's best performance on the drums and of course Toru and Ryota were great too. Thank you for reacting to this concert. I love when you get all excited and hope you get to see them live in Japan one day.

Jolene Nakamatsu

You did a great job explaining about Taka being sick. I didn't realize that he said he felt like his throat was on fire. Hard to believe when he sounded so great.

Jolene Nakamatsu

Thank you for the reaction! I watched it many times but it was a lot more fun to watch with you. I hope Nagisaen will in the next poll options as I think you will really enjoy the rock-ness of the concert (for both the setlist and the crowd). I also want to recommend earlier concerts like Yokohama Stadium 2014 or Yokohama Arena 2013. For documentaries, there are many but I do not know if there are any of them you can find online with subtitles. Fool Cool Rock (2013, DVD), NHK World Tour Document (2019, TV), Taiwan Live Documentary with English subs (2018, TV), Ambitions Tour (2017, DVD), Zankyo Reference Tour (2012, DVD), Ambitions Album Recording in LA (2016, DVD), 35XXXV (2015, DVD), Jinsei x Kimi Tour (2013, DVD), Space Shower TV V.I.P. (2013, TV), Budokan Documentary (2010, TV), Yononaka Shredder (2007, DVD), Space Shower TV V.I.P (2017, TV), Space Shower TV V.I.P (2019, TV), NHK 18 Fes (2017, TV), etc. My favorite non-concert videos of OOR is a TV program called Monster Rock, which is a variety show hosted by vocalist Daisuke-han and drummer Nao of Maximum the Hormone. OOR was featured in the program occasionally for their album promotions. You will see the funny side of the members in the show. Regarding your question on their upcoming concert with My First Story in November, the first presale lottery period for Primal Footmark members has just ended yesterday. There will be different types of lotteries announced later on, normally with official presale followed by ticketing website presales, , and then final public sale (not lottery). They may have official resale system this time but that would be scheduled really close to the concert day. I registered for the Primal Footmark presale for 2 tickets but I always lose these lotteries and this is a one-day show for two major bands. I do not see any chance at all... but IF I did win the lottery, you can use one of my tickets :)

I’m still partway through watching the whole thing with you… Gonna chime in on saying thank you to whoever did the English subtitles, too!

Jay Ell

Thank you for the english subs. I already watched this concert so many times, though I don’t understand any of the conversations . Yes Taka was sick here. I really wish someone can help you in securing tickets. If only I am Japanese and has access, I’m more than willing to give you a ticket next tour. Studio Jam sessions are also a must. OOR has this talent of giving one song a different arrangement and makes it as good as the original. Their acoustic versions are always amazing. One example is Mighty Long Fall, the orig is no doubt a banger, freaking love it. But I never imagine i also equally love the acoustic versions - in studio jam session and in day to night acoustic session. As for the documentary from their early days, I have seen one with subs in facebook. Title is Fool Cool Rock! The dvd of 35xxxv tour has also a documentary so I watched it without subs 😆.

Everyone say thank you to Oo Pe for the time they took to sub this, and to John for sharing this moment with us 🙏🙏❤️❤️ Taka was definitely sick during this concert, it got delayed by almost an hour because of it. Your comment about Taka's singing "leaning in when it's difficult" also sums up his personality pretty well. He's definitely the type to double down and never half ass anything. His unholy rabid energy is infectious! And thanks to the subs, I got to understand when he said "If I could die in front of you guys, I would love it"! As for subsequent concerts to see, I would personally suggest either 2016 Nagisaen (to work backwards in time), or 2021 Day to Night Acoustic for a unique twist on their songs. The summer sonic fest you mentioned is fairly short and the audio/video quality isn't great from what I've found! Wishing you all the best in getting a ticket for a japan show!

Thank you so much for the reaction, John! Probably my favorite Setlist of theirs. It's a good mix of their newer and older songs. Taka was actually sick. The concert started 45 minutes late because they weren't sure if he could perform. He himself hates this concert, because he thought that he didn't sing good enough. He also said that halfway through it felt like his throat was on fire but he still sounds incredible. There is a video of their 2007 concert (with a few videos from 2006 in there). Fool Cool Rock is a documentary about their first overseas tour but also a little about their beginnings. Taka can actually play 4 instruments (guitar, piano, drums, bass), but he rarely does in live performances. Maybe 1 song per tour. Taka is such a genuine person. His words really resonate with you. It is my first time watching this with subtitles as well. Before I understood like 40-50% but understanding everything is such a great experience. There are 5 Studio Jam Sessions (each 2 or 3 songs only). Are you gonna watch all of them in one go? I highly recommend the 2016 special live in Nagisaen concert after that. Best crowd imo. Can't wait to watch your next reaction!
