BabyMetal - Megitsune Live

Going to see them in Nashville in September! Getting ready to see them!

BabyMetal - Megitsune Live

Comments

I know what he is doing, I was simply saying that if he wanted to see a performance of this song with the usual audience responses rather than the Mexican wave that would be a good one to see.

John, you are in for a treat in September when you see them live. I was fortunate enough to see Babymetal perform Megitsune live in Brisbane, Australia, in June. It was the second song of the show, coming straight after a ripping opening with Babymetal Death. Su is an amazing singer live. However, in Brisbane, she was a little pitchy in a couple of places in Megitsune. Megitsune is one of their toughest songs vocally for Su, which is why she often does this song in the sound checks before the show. But after that, the performance and vocals of every song were amazing (and you are right, Su obviously sings live, apart for some intros, a couple of interludes, and a little self-harmonizing). However, don't expect a show like the live concerts Babymetal do in Japan, it's a logistics thing, there would be too much to take on tour for smaller venues. But I guarantee, you will not be disappointed in their performance. I hope you and Dunc enjoy the show.

He's trying to knock out songs that are on the setlist so he isn't surprised at the concert, not just watch random Babymetal concerts. The Fox Festivals have almost no songs that are played on tour.

My suggestion is the watch Doki Doki Morning music video, followed by the Live at Budokan 2014 (which is on YouTube). Then watch the Babymetal Returns concert, followed by Babymetal Begins Black Night, and then Babymetal Begins Clear Night (which airs at the end of July). That should cover most of the tour setlist with these few exceptions: THE ONE, BxMxC, Shanti Shanti Shanti, and mabye iine! if they cut it from Clear Night stream to save for the Blu-ray. If they don't cut iine!, that won't be one you need to track down, but maybe it's worth watching the music video first anyway.

Budokan 2021 was a bit unusual - it was during covid so they had to go along with incredibly strict rules to be allowed to put the concerts on at all, but they were their 10th anniversary celebration concerts and they had to happen. The crowd was half capacity so they were socially distanced - no standing area (as you noticed), no moshing etc. Everybody had to wear 2 masks (their own and a souvenir one they were given on the way in) and they were not allowed to shout, call out or sing along ... the crowd chants etc were recorded at previous concerts and were piped in to give it something resembling the normal atmosphere ... they did use the crowd noise for the specific songs at least. The crowd could clap, stamp their feet, jump up and down etc, but no vocal noise allowed. With no moshing etc they improvised with the Mexican wave - also made possible as the Budokan is a martial arts arena so the audience were in the round with the stage in the middle and the Kami Band positioned around the stage at east, south, west and north (as you spotted). In live performances from some other shows you will see just how much the crowd joins in, I would recommend the Red Fox festival performance from 2017 - they had an all female audience for that one, very fitting for this song in particular as it is a female empowerment song.

That heavy moment of this song and the intro of Monochrome literally wiped the floor with me on live concert! They are literally awesome! Literally after the show with Sabaton in my city in Poland I want to buy tickets for their solo show in Germany in December! Definetely going!
