RM -INDIGO FULL ALBUM REACTION

Alison I completely agree with you! I love how open he is with us through his music and lyrics ive always appreciated when musicians sing about REAL things. There are so many songs on this album that really show us his thoughts and I love it

John Reaves

:) same!!!

From his first mix tape to Mono to Indigo, RM has shown us how he has changed as a human, adult, artist, idol, role model, poet, lyricist, and how genuine and humble he is. If I could describe this album in one word it would be Intelligence. This is the most Intelligent album I have ever heard. NamJoon has never been afraid to tell us who he is and what he's feeling. This makes him one of the most real artists I have ever seen. This is why he is my ult and why I got RM tattooed on me forever. As much as I love this album and respect it, Mono will always be my favorite work from him and holds a special place in my heart.

You should see his first mixtape "RM" completely different much much more rap base but it's crazy to see how much versatile he is compared to what people think

I absolutely love this album. There is not a bad song on it. Still life to me is capturing a moment in time like in paintings and now with film and even music. They continue to live on by those that look and listen. Even after you are no longer here your art still lives on. How many artists have passed but we still appreciate the Art they have left behind? Michael Jackson, Monet, family photos of loved ones no longer with us. Funny when I listen to lonely it reminds me of a little song I sang on a cassette tape in the 80s about being bored and lonely. I would have been a little younger than RM when he wrote Lonely. I wonder if many of us have that same feeling around that age. When I first listen to Closer with Paul Blanco I kept thinking Paul’s voice the way he did his runs reminded me of someone else. I finally remembered. He reminds me of Able Heart who wrote the song Green Light for the Jonas Brothers and featured on Songland Season 1 episode 4 in 2019. He was the first Artist that I ever heard that sang that way. It is very unique. So I was really surprised to hear Paul sing like that and I love it! Great reaction as usual! Thank you John! 🫰💜

So many thoughts John! Mostly, he does have a different sound on this album. It’s breathier and a little more raw? He says this is a journal of his twenties. Each track is a lot like journal entries. I love the analogy. There’s and interview he did with Zack Sang where he’s relatively open about discussing the deeper meanings of where this album came from. He talks about his favorite painter which you see one of his in his “all day” videos which is in his bedroom. By the way. That painting is indigo colored. Last. I’ve listened to this album a lot. I think when he repeats phrases like “I want to be human” it’s like a mantra and a meditation, stating what he believes and what he’s trying to figure out. Like. If you can’t figure something out you just keep repeating it while thinking about it. That whole dialogue and the intro to the first track comes from an interview with his fav painter. Which I wish I could remember his name. Anyway. I’ve really been looking forward to this. Indigo has been swirling around in my head for a month. Welcome to the whirlwind. Side note: I’m now craving tea eggs.

I agree his voice changed but this album is also an exploration of his evolution and trying new “colors” in his music and voice he can’t in BTS. Which isn’t to say they hold him back just he writes to for a group so less room to explore. Like everything about experimental tracks like Change part 2 absolutely tickles my creative brain. Also as you kept mentioning how different each song sounds and my biggest reason I don’t stay as into many artists is they become predictable and everything sounds alike. My biggest attraction to BTS has been the variety, we never know what might come next and the 3 rappers solo albums stand unique for being raw emotions and ideas but also tracks sound fresh in relation to each other. Every song here holds up unique but they also are like a tasting menu each filling and nothing disrupts the next course it flows beautifully. His lyrics are just a masterclass in how to use words and images. Final thoughts are I agree with you on Wildflower more than bookish theories hers is one side to view it but I’m viewing it similar to you. And No 2 might be the most perfect way to end this album. Unexpected after the powerhouse of Wildflower but given the singers context he picked the absolute perfect collab here, really every song was the perfect collab. Anyone else desperately want to see the whole essay he wrote to try and convince Erakah Badu etc fo collab with him (the fact he’s so geeky he wrote a damn persuasive essay and she said yes before needing to read it, Joon I keep thinking I can’t love and adore you more then you do things so endearing I find new colors to make me appreciate you more). Happy New Years all!

I personally don’t feel his voice is any different apart from possibly being a little more deeper and honestly he’s improved a lot in his singing. I absolutely adore how much singing he does in this album and he’s so stable in the live versions as well, it’s been good seeing people appreciate how talented he actually is in a lot of areas besides rapping and writing. But I don’t know, I don’t really feel like his voice sounds different from what he normally sounds like.

I love this album so much! <3 thanks for the full album review!

Love the album! You're going to love the Seoul concert - the performances by some of the featured artists are wonderful and RM throw in a couple of non-Indigo tracks for fun.

This album is a masterpiece! Thank you for sharing your reaction with us! Also, RM said that he was drunk when he recorded "change pt 2", this might be the reason why his voice sounds so different to you!

You're totally right, this album is legitimately a work of art from start to finish! Namjoon is clearly a poet at his most core level, how lucky are we that he is also so musically gifted? I honestly think all the time to myself, "how is it that I get to be alive at the same time as these guys? What are the freaking odds?" Can't wait to see your reaction to his Seoul show, it was truly epic and he was so in his element- amazing to see him finally let go of his leader position and just be himself alone on stage. Loved watching this with you Johnny, happy new year to you and the fam!

Ooh finallyyy!! Been waiting for you to do RM reactions! What makes me laugh a little while listening to this album is the fact that idols are always very aware the fact they don’t curse at all because it’s something that has always been thing they shouldn’t do or say. But RM in this album is like fuck it and says fuck like 100 times. :D I love it how RM feels free to be himself! I will wait for you to watch the RM live in Seoul where he performed these songs from Indigo with some of the features and it’s so good. Little audience and so intimate gig! And also, in the Still life it’s Anderson Paak who sings the ’i’m still life’. So good reaction, thank you John!!
