Hope World FULL ALBUM ( REACTION )

Comments

I'm glad to know you enjoyed this album. Be A Good Human. <3

BlackRoseMoni

If you listen to Airplane and then Airplane part 2 you will notice that J-Hope's rap is the same in both songs, BTS took that as a foundation of their song as it represented what they felt at that time.

Auntie Cat

You're going to love his live show at Lolla!! It was INCREDIBLE. To answer your question about who made the music on this album: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hope_World#Personnel J-Hope – main vocals, production, writing, vocal arrangement, rap arrangement, chorus, keyboard, synthesizer, recording engineer

sugaazzi

I totally agree about hobi unique style. I freaking love his style so much. His songs are my fav everytime. Totally agree with you there. Please also react to blue side extended version which he released 3 years later, that probably is my all time fav song from him. People often say how jhope is showing his different side in JITB, but according to me, he touched upon some similar stuff in hope world too, but with a brighter sound. Can't wait for JITB and lollapalooza reactions. Thank you!!

I think for me one of the first solo songs I found for Hobi was watching his Airplane MV, and I absolutely loved everything about it. I loved the video, the song, his unique style and sound, etc... After that, I was pretty much hooked, well more than I had already been. Just made the draw to him specifically, that much stronger. Hobi has always been one of the main things that drew me to BTS since the beginning. He was my first bias and honestly, my only bias, because it's never really even been close. I have just so much love and respect for Hobi, as a person and as a artist💜💚 ** And Lollapalooza is insanely amazing! I have been to so many live shows, and without a doubt that set he did was just incredible. He is a true 👑 King of the Stage👑 in every way💜🌟💜 And what I think makes it even more amazing to see, is how all of it just seems so second nature to him while he is on stage. To me, he just seems so natural, so I think his ease and the comfortability that radiates off of him while he is on stage performing adds a whole other layer to the audience's experience while watching him. You can definitely tell he really enjoys what he is doing when he is on stage. I think because of this, we as the audience, fans, Army, etc... get to enjoy it more ourselves because of that kind of relaxed environment he creates by being just so natural and joyful himself so much! Thank you so much for this album review/reaction, I can't wait for the one for Jack in The Box💚💜💚

Irene (DragonsWrathxxx)

Blue Side full extended version is a must! Truly💜

Irene (DragonsWrathxxx)

Well I appreciate that you read it all. haha. KUDOS. And I'll hunt down a good vocal compilation! But I'll send it to you after you get to the Blue Side extended version because there's a lot of vocals in that and I don't want to spoil it!

SNBangtan

Blue side extended!! Heck yes!! I have to hear it! That’s so different from the theme I was thinking it was about 😂

John Reaves

I totally agree that he has some of the most unique ideas for song concepts I loved all his references in Hope World and can’t wait to see what he does with Jack in The Box! I’d love to hear some of High more vocal line songs! Is there a comp video of him singing?! Lol and for sure I read it all! I love talking with anyone who’s watching me talk 😂😂

John Reaves

Bahahaha no you’re fine trust me thank you for your kind words and I 100% agree with you! 💜💜

John Reaves

^^^ this!! 100% lol I love your take on it!! 💜💜

John Reaves

Ahhh I missed that!! Blast!! But thank you so much for telling me! Going back to listen right now! 💜💜

John Reaves

You can't just say that like it's fact. He and Irene have been friends for years but they rarely seem to get together and there's no evidence it's anything other than platonic. It's not our place to speculate let alone put out rumors like they're true. This is the reason why the boys feel like they can't have female friends publicly. Because people always try to make it into something.

SNBangtan

To answer the gf question yes he is dating a Korean model

armymomtoo

Also, there are MVs for Daydream and Airplane and Blue Side has an extended version. So there is so much more to it! He revisited it and "finished" it in 2020. And the meaning becomes a little more clear. It's helpful to know though that some of the wordplay with the word blue (when he uses it in Korean) refers to an age of youth or innocence. So back to the blue side is about returning to a time that was less scary and hard and full of pressure. Anyway, you should check them out!

SNBangtan

I totally agree with you about j-hope's uniqueness. He's one-of-one for sure and I think in 10 years or so we'll start seeing artists come up and say things like "they've got a j-hope sound/flow." But I do just want to let you know because you just haven't seen it yet but vocally, j-hope's falsetto is one of his strengths. It's clear as a bell and nice and round and pitch perfect with a really controlled vibrato. Sometimes even seasoned fans mistake it for Jungkook's. You'll see. And he also does deep really well. He's a really good vocalist and I think if you count his full bag of tricks, his range is the best. Like he does belly crys and full belts and has great agility (check out some of his adlibbed runs in Mama). His pitch accuracy and vibrato is spot on too. They call him the unofficial 5th member of the vocal line for a reason. Idk if you know this but j-hope is credited in the vocal gang along with the vocal line on like 75% of their songs. Even vocal line solos like Filter. Can't wait for you to hear more of it! Of course, his rap range is ridiculous too. You mentioned his speed for a moment in P.O.P. and I think it's important to note that j-hope is incredibly skilled at rap and can do speed and agility and does it a lot throughout their discography. But he doesn't rely on it. He can do slow and energetic, he can do modern trap-y, he can do textured and aggressive, he can do melodic...I think people give him a little less credit for his prowess because his "thing" is less definable. You can't say "he's got a fast flow" or "he's got a deep tone" because he literally comes onto every track sideways and you just have no idea what you're going to get from him. He's the versatile, good-at-everything-guy. Suga once said j-hope is like water because he adapts to fill the space they need him too. He often gets the part of the song with a different structure because he's really good at coming up with flows and melodies that Hit. Just. Right. I'm sure it has to do with his dance background and his audience-centric artistic perspective. He has incredible musicality and he thinks about how the audience is going to engage with his music. It's one of the reasons his songs steal the show at concerts...they're designed in every way to engage the audience. Also, I just have to put it out there that j-hope is such an underrated writer. He has 135 writing credits, just 11 less than Yoongi (which amounts to about the same amount of BTS contributions) and he was actually the second member with registered credits after Joon, having been a writer for the group since pre-debut. But lyrically, he writes really abstractly and he's super referential so he's incredibly hard to translate for. Joon writes poetry. It's very complex and beautiful and intelligent but if you understand how to interpret poetry, you can grasp his meanings. Suga is very direct and to the point. He doesn't mince words and his lyrics are all the more powerful for it. But Hoseok leaves out a ton of context, often giving just a few nouns, verbs, adjectives and leaving out subject, pronoun, tense etc. So translators are left to infer the context when they translate and that becomes even more difficult when the context is provided only by catching the reference to some obscure thing in pop culture or literature or history or economic policy or foreign country's superstitions (those are all real examples). Another thing he does is he uses the production to double down or give a hint about context. In Piece of Piece there's this part where he talks about obstacles fading away and as he says "fade away" a dissonant set of notes slide into a harmony. And he uses words that mean one thing but delivers them like an onamatopoeia that is thematically tied to the word. Like in Rush Hour he uses the Korean work for "taking a photo" and delivers it like the "chicka chicka" sound of a shutter clicking. Anyway, I say all this because people tend to read his lyrics at face value and neglect the layers and layers of meaning in each phrase. Doolset's translations are sometimes paragraphs long for some of his bars. I spend more time with his lyrics than anyone else's. And he's said that research is the most time consuming part of his songwriting so I just feel like the least we can do is put the same effort in to try to understand all the depth there. I have some of j-hope's lyrics (from Ego) tattooed on my body. They dug me out of a deep dark hole after law school. So I just feel the need to wax philosophic about his brilliance whenever I get the opportunity. He's a genius and a one-of-a-kind talent. Editing to add that he also comes up with some of the coolest concepts. Like both Hope World and Jack in the Box have excellent themes (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and then Pandora's Box meets Jack in the Box) but he also was the mind behind Whalien52, Pied Piper, Mic Drop, and Ddaeng and I thought of this when we got to Airplane because the concept there (using flying in an airplane to literally and figuratively represent the achievement of his dreams) is really genius too. What are the odds of you reading this whole thing at this point...? haha

SNBangtan

Ok I just reread my paragraph and I sound like that Noah guy. Omg I want to delete 🥲

Ivana Rojas

Ok I can tell you really pay attention to them as artists! You were very spot on with how jack in the box is not too far off from hopeworld. Also you shouldn’t worry too much about people taking offense to how you wish to say what you would like to say. You could literally write a whole essay on how you meant no offense, but someone will still try to twist words if they so wish. With that being said, yes Hobi really has many dimensions to his voice. It’s amazing what he does within his limited range. He uses his voice as well as he uses his body for dance. Anyways can’t wait to see more of your reactions! You’re a sweet one!

Ivana Rojas

Yeah he has mentioned having a girlfriend in school once. And I think last year (?) he talked about wanting to settle down with a partner in his birthday stream.

Ophelia

It was on Rookie King. One of his favorite songs that he has done karaoke for a couple times on screen, for Rookie King, Run, etc, was the song he listened to after they broke up.

Ophelia

Hobi had mentioned girls in the past, but nothing serious. There were a lot of rumors about him and Irene Kim this summer, but it was all speculation and rumor. Whatever is going on in his personal life, this man deserves to be loved. I hope someone is spoiling the shit out of him everyday. 😍

Jesi Ryan

Hobi auditioned as a dancer but said he was always interested in singing. He learned to rap from RM & Suga because when he became part of BTS they were the only ones there. I'm not sure if Band PD had quite decided the direction of the group. I'm glad he developed his own unique style of rap rather than copy either of his brothers. He has a lovely singing voice too. Jack in the Box wasn't a complete departure from Hope World...it was just a bit grittier. It was a departure from the JHope we see normally see in BTS so people forgot. Aside: when he introduced himself at Lollapalooza, he added "...you can call me J" folks went wild. They, apparently, forgot that Suga has called him J off/on for awhile.

Full version of blue side is amazing! Must hear. Also, you may notice, J Hope’s verse on Airplane Pt 2 is literally the same lyrics pulled from Airplane. Was hoping you’d catch it when you heard them. If you go back and listen to both back to back you should catch it.

(2011). https://youtu.be/50717F_e2Go Hobi said that he learned rap from RM and Suga after joining BH. (See BTS Burn the Stage). Before BTS the idol group was formed. (2013). https://youtu.be/b-G1XEdkzxM

Loved this. Thank you! 💜

Veronica

This was awesome! Hope world is one of my favorite albums. Also, Jhope put out a longer version of Blue Side about a year ago or more. ;). Oh , and funny you should mention the word “longing” bc it’s one of the words in the art work of blue side.

Mbee

J-Hope once mentioned that before BTS, he had a girlfriend but she broke up with him for someone else. Can’t remember where I saw the video of him saying that though.

MarilynPF

Supreme Boi is one of bts producers he was going to be in bts with rm but left after the project shift but stayed and has been with them since

Alex

Thank you, loved your reaction to this, John! I just love this album and the Jack in the Album. 💜

Jodi Yamagata

He co-produced 3 songs, Piece of Peace,Baseline and Airplane

eve camara

If you watch the YouTube serious burn the stage it actually shows Jhope taking about and working on this album while on tour. So I am going guess Hobi did the majority of the beats on this album.

Vanessa Aguilar

"Piece Of Peace" is my favorite song on "Hope World" It's so deep and Jhope lets it all out there with how he want's to be to us. I cried when he sung it live at the concert. It's a true classic. The fact that we got live performances from this epic album was such a gift.💜💜

Tanya perez

Supreme Boi is also in one of the cyphers.

LINDSEY WARD

I love this mix tape but I love the hobipolooza version of the songs even more. The live band just elevated all the the songs to the next level. Hobi is an awesome artist! Hobi sings like his freestyle dancing. Love it! 💜
