He's the Reason Why We Can't Have Nice Things (And June Vote Results)

The poll results are in! So it looks like Aenarion on Indraugnir took the top spot this month followed by Settra the Imperishable (although there are a lot of really close ones in the runner up spot). Aenarion on Indraugnir looks like a pretty complicated piece so it might occupy more creation time in the month. I'll err on the side of caution and only pick these two for next month. I'll also try and make some progress on the previous Dragonslayer Orstein suggestion and Éomer the Lion as promised.

I've also got some final WIPs for the Eldar characters this month. As usual, the majority of the Grimdark WIPs are not on Patreon anymore.  But community members can still access the latest WIPs as mentioned in previous posts.  Just to be thorough, community members will receive an email with the access information as well.

Asurmen gets two poses, one for command and one for attacking. The warp spiders actually get quite a few poses as I tried to do a lot of experimentation to get their look right. As per a community member's request, I also tried to giving them an armor version that resembled wraithbone. It sort of worked for the Warp Spiders but not for Asurmen so I only did it for them. They also get a special portal design to mimic their teleport jumps through the warp.

Finally, the bonus reward for July will be Erebus (or as I like to call him the "King of the D***s". Because this is Word Bearers month, it wouldn't be complete without the most hated of them all.

I had this whole rant post planned for him but I don't really have the time to write it all so I'll just post a brief summary and some memes. Erebus is that kind of character that everybody (even his own Legion) hates. Why? Well, there are tons of reasons but when you strip away all the pretentious titles and other BS, he is essentially history's most successful con man. But while most con men will leave you financially destitute, Erebus gives you eternal damnation.

The last Siege of Terra book said that the Horus Heresy is the story of a father killing a son. I guess that's true but I've come to think of the series as the story of a colossal asshole ruining the entire galaxy just to f*** with everyone. You think Joffrey is hated? Trust me, compared to this pile of d***s masquerading as a Space Marine, that brat is a Care Bear. The things he does in the Horus Heresy would make the most vile characters in any setting say "Damn, even I wouldn't stoop down to that level." He's also the character that make the fanbase scream "No!" the most in the series.

To top it all off, Erebus is the closest thing to a 'winner' in the setting as he essentially got away with it. Traitors and loyalists will never admit it, but all that they are, they owe to him one way or another. They've just been huffing various amounts of copium ever since.

And while the final outcome of the Siege is framed as a loss for Chaos, I'd say the aftermath is a pretty good consolation prize for the Ruinous Powers. They'll never run out of heretics desperate enough to worship them. As Russ put it, there will never be a time when Space Marines are not needed. So in a meta sense, it doesn't matter if the Word Bearers win or lose battles, Erebus gets victory points no matter what.

Because Erebus doesn't care about his brothers and he sure as s**t doesn't care about Lorgar. What Erebus cares about is Erebus and the next sap he can con to get ahead in life. As the series has made abundantly clear, it's not how much power you have, it's how you use it.

So yes, Erebus is the biggest d*** in the galaxy and he's proud of it. In the grim darkness of the far future, Erebus laughs and the Dark Gods laugh with him. And every time someone says "F*** Erebus!", he laughs a little harder. Lorgar might be the most hated Primarch, but trust me, Erebus is the most hated character by far. The fanbase almost never agrees on anything but this is one of the very few points that is unanimous. Although I have noticed Leandros has been giving him some competition recently in most hated polls which is uh...impressive to say the least. 😅

Anyways, I've got to get next month's items moving so the full set of release description will be in the public post. But basically everything I've posted about this month will be in the July release. Grimdark fans, if you get the chance please let people know what's coming.
