Hello!
A new sci fi month begins! High resolution turntables here.
Let's begin with last month's poll winner, the Decepticon known as Shockwave. It's been awhile, so I needed to brush up on my Transformers lore but apparently this dude is legitimately scary. π²
Shockwave's primary role is the leading scientist of the Decepticons and is infamous for his detached, logical approach to warfare. What separates him from other Transformers is his utterly logical approach to every situation, having purged all his emotional subroutines in order to become more efficient. It's said that Shockwave is so competent and deadly in combat, he is a legitimate threat to Megatron as a candidate for head honcho.
Shockwave also does a lot of disturbing experiments, conducting experiments on prisoners, transforming them into grotesque abominations, and developing experimental weapons and technology. In a mad scientist streak, Shockwave created a new underclass of Cybertronians, known as the Forged, who were mentally and physically damaged by his experiments.
So yeah, if Devastator represents the absolute nadir of Decepticon intelligence, Shockwave is at the very top. Then again, Shockwave apparently invented the Dinobots in at least one continuity so maybe that wasn't his finest hour. π Still, everyone mocks Starscream but Shockwave is the rare Decepticon everyone (even Megatron) actually respects.
Anyways, my version of Shockwave is a hybrid of his original G1 depiction and the newer non Michael Bay movies. Shockwave is definitely one of the most distinctive Transformers which his cyclopean optic and doesn't even have the Decepticon symbol on his armor (except in G1). I'll also give some options for an opaque chest plate or transparent one. Shockwave fans, do you have any mad scientist moments you want me to include in next month's release? Please let me know!
Next up is General Grievous from Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith fame! Pretty sure he doesn't need any introduction but here are some interesting tidbits not covered in the movie. Originally a Kaleesh male warlord called Qymaen jai Sheelal, he was cybernetically enhanced by Sidious and Dooku to be the terrifying combat machine known as Grievous.
During the Clone Wars, Grievous was general as well as Supreme Martial Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies. Grievous was was so deadly he could easily defeat Jedi Knights in combat and made a habit of claiming the lightsabers of defeated Jedi as trophies (fine additions to his collection) and would used them against other opponents. As the war played out, Grievous found a personal nemesis in Obi-Wan Kenobi, whom (he dueled on numerous occasions) was finally defeated by Jedi Master in the Revenge of the Sith (hint hint). π
So appearance wise, Grievous looks pretty much how he looks in the movie with his spindly cybernetic limbs and droid face mask. He'll also come with his fancy cloak and the quad arms for that extra intimidation factor. Heck, add as many arms and lightsabers as you want! π
Next up is Bubblegum Crisis Knight Sabers (Still trying to figure out if I can fit the NCR Ranger in this month). Voters, I've never watched the series so I might need some help figuring out what you're looking for. Please PM me or leave something in the comments. Thanks!
