Shar's (or Selûne's) Blessings Upon You (Fantasy WIP)

The next Fantasy update has arrived!
Some WIPs in this post for Archaon patreon. But community members can still access the latest WIPs as mentioned in previous posts. Just to be thorough, community members will receive an email with the access information as well.
Let's start with a Shadowheart from the Baldur's Gate 3. I recently finished a playthrough so I have a pretty good understanding of her backstory. Shadowheart starts off as a devout follower of Shar. But as the campaign progresses, quite a few interesting tidbits come up that explain her true origins and there are plenty of surprising twists and turns throughout her storyline.
Without getting into spoilers, Shadowheart can choose to become a Selûnite (Shar's direct rival) in the right circumstances. And to show her conversion, Shadowheart will adopt a new hairstyle and dye her hair white. I'll be covering both for next month's release. 👍
Appearance wise, I have a few armor and pose ideas in the pipeline for Shadowheart. But since I'm only going to get one month to work on her character, I wanted to include one of the best looking armors in the game. There are a lot of cool looking costumes in vanilla BG3 but the best looking hands down is the Wavemother's Robe which is worn by followers of Umberlee.
I'm pretty sure the Wavemother's Robe is a fan favorite because I usually see Shadowheart wearing a black dyed version in their Shar playthrough or the original blue version for a Selûnite playthrough. I have plans to do an original armored version for her as well but I'll see how much I can manage this month.
Now I was thinking of doing another original slice of life diorama this month but then I had an idea where I could recreate the campsite home for Shadowheart. One of the most immersive parts of BG3 is when the player has downtime in their party camp and everyone's just chilling out. So I thought why not do something for Shadowheart where she is just relaxing in her camp, reading or playing with the owlbear cub or something. That's a slice of life diorama and would be pretty fun to paint, wouldn't it? 😄 BG3 fans, please let me know if you like that idea.
Next up is Dorghar, the Steed of the Apocalypse and one of the Six Treasures of Chaos of the Everchosen. Dorghar is described as a maelstrom of black and spectral flame and able to shift its shape into any form of its liking. In the case of Archaon, this shape was that of a massive warhorse reminiscent of his own during his time as a Templar albeit with a demonic aspect. So for my version, I thought it'd be cool to make my version a demonic horse with a flaming mane and tail.
Please note that the WIPs of Archaon riding Dorghar in this WIP are not final. I just needed to get the basic visuals down. I plan to make a much more epic pose in future updates. 🔥
As mentioned in the previous post, there will be a new public cross promotion tomorrow and community members will get a free character! 🥳

Haha, I think I'll need to adjust the robes at the hips a little. They might make the hips look wider than I intended. 😅 Yeah, her personal quest is very interesting. Great for roleplaying purposes! 👍

2025-04-17 14:43:20 +0000 UTCFirst, I'm always glad to see God's Favorite Princess -- she is the most interesting girl in the world, after all -- but I have to ask: did leaving Lady Shar and going over to Selune give her birthing hips? Maybe it was all the good lovin' she and Tav got up to? :) :) :) :) :) (BG3 is the absolute best game because it is pure wish fulfillment. You can absolutely, totally fix the broken little goth doll and she'll love you for it).

Yeah, I'm a massive fan of BG2, probably still my favorite of the entire series. I'd love to include some characters like Minsc and Boo into the diorama but due to the monthly timetable that will have to be delayed for a future Fantasy Month.

2025-04-16 14:40:21 +0000 UTCI really like your take on Shadowheart: it adds another dimension to the existing sculpts that I've collected from other artists. Thanks! It's interesting to see how well the take-up in making sculpts of BG3 characters has been since its official release, compared to the absence of them during the pre-release period :) On the subject of 'slice of life' and the campsite setting, I think this would be a really distinctive option. What might be nice would be to build up a series of other BG3 Origin Characters in the same setting, so the diorama could revolve around a single character, one's favourites or the entire Origin group. Also, given your predilection for unearthing historical D&D characters and dioramas (thanks again for Raistlin/Takhisis!), it'd be great if your homage to BG could extend to some of the more distinctive characters from BG1 and 2. Seeing Imoen, Minsc & Boo, Khalid, and Sarevok, among the many others, in sculpted form would be fantastic!
