Andy's Dad Died? I thought he ran away with a younger women and spent all the families money. To me Andy's character was consistent and his actions make sense given his circumstance. His whole world crumbled when his father left and he reverted back to his childish, insecure, self.

Andy has been a jerk for awhile now, remember last season he went after Erin but he was still dating another girl and then broke up with that girl during a bachelorette party. Ed Helms is just a likeable guy and a good actor that you forget all the crappy stuff Andy was doing way way way before the 3 months sailing trip.

I'm trying to remember how I felt about Andy when I originally watched this episode as it aired because I don't remember being angry. I know I was much more invested in the drama with Jim and Pam and had already started rooting for Erin and Plop. So, I guess my reaction to Andy was just indifference... which may have been worse than the anger you guys have been feeling.

Andy is musically talented and has had some heartwarming moments. However Andy has always been a Bad Salesman, Petty, Entitled, Spoiled, and he consistently makes Bad and Extreme Personal Choices. I loved seeing Mrs. Ho-Kym (Amy Hill).

At first, I thought Andy and Erin would end up fine and have their happily ever after like Michael and Holly, but after season 8 and the actor being away for movie stunts, it makes sense why the writers had to ruin his character development. Let’s be real though, after everything that happened with his dad, Andy was bound to self-destruct anyway, and everything leading up to this was just cringe. He's struggling more than Ryan, and the upcoming episodes involving him, Erin, and Wallace are bound to be intense.

Im going to say something different than everyone else about Andy. They stumble ALLLLL the way to the finish line with his character, but I think you'll like where it lands.

Raising Hope! Throw it in the ring for me pls

Ikr fuck that guy. I forgot just how hatable they made his character. I probably didn't want to remember.

Kelly married and moved away with Ravi. Ryan moved away to follow her but pretended that he was trying break into a new tech hub. That was the end of their on-screen time I think. IMO, their stories were running out of ideas anyways.

Andy coming back and immediately blowing Dwight's White Pages sale, and then accepting a bonus for work everyone else did in his absence...might be the angriest I've ever been at a fictional character.

Michael Walsh

Yeah the whole leaving his job to get Erin was the beginning of the end imo. Everything he does from that point on was just hopeless cringe...

Wow I remember Andy became annoying but I forgot how many small annoying things he did on his day back. What a total douche!

This character assassination is worse than daenerys. With daenerys there were at least some seeds planted for a mad queen angle. It was just horribly executed and paid off poorly as a result. Also that was a supremely rushed season so a lot of the problems came logically from that. There is basically no real basis for andy’s change other than the stuff that requires mountain sized mental gymnastics to justify. There weren’t enough plot beats that allowed it to flow even remotely coherently and the change is just way too abrupt, even in comparison to the got stuff. People were just more disappointed by got because expectations for the show was higher but for this to leave such a bad mark for such a low stakes show is super remarkable.

To correct the record here you shouldn’t blame Andy’s character for his downfall. It was a combination of Ed Helms, having to take the role of the hangover movies which took him away from filming the office so they had to write his character off for a season, and after that they decided to destroy several years of character development, destroying his overall character arc it infuriated me, and I have never forgiven the writing stuff for this

Kevin Loney

It was a gradual downfall to Andy’s character.. when he left his job the first time to Florida to get Erin was when it started. Yeah Nellie shafted him but the whole “woe is me” dramatic janitor performance when he brought David Wallace back 😬. This episode was just the lowest point for him.

yay you're alright!
