So tragically, this was filed shortly before Lance Reddick's passing. In fact, the crew was shocked to learn that Lance had passed away so suddenly as only a few days prior he'd finished his lines for the season. While I'm sure there are still a few performances that will show up with him attached that look a while to come out, this season is essentially the final thing he recorded before is sudden passing. RIP to a legend.

I actually didn't find the changes that controversial. It's a change in media and Critical Role made changes to adapt to the new media. Granted, I also had a sense (from some Critter made previews) of what is to come. I think Season 2 is my favorite season, but the single best episode of the series is in season 3.

Really looking forward to watching this season again. probably my favorite premiere of the series. Going back through fan reaction I'm a bit surprised by how controversial the writing changes were/are. Interested to see the reactions going forward.

Lore Dump: Keyleth: If she becomes a high level druid, her aging will slow down to 1 year for every 10 years that passes. She has the potential to outlive the rest of cast by hundreds of years. Dragon: In Dnd, dragons can be grouped into Chromatic (Red, Green, etc.) and Metallic (Gold, Silver, etc.). Chromatic dragons are pretty much always evil. Metallic dragons are pretty much always good.

This season is where the show starts to fall off. They made some pretty questionable writing choices. I understand that some things are going to change when you adapt something to a different medium. But the animated series breaks it's own rules that they established in the animated series which leads to some pretty big inconsistencies in the new canon they're establishing. Plus, multiple characters make choices that they would NEVER actually make. I dunno; there are some things that are huge deal breakers that lead me to not even really being excited about season 4. I could take it or leave it.
