the budget wasn't just a factor, it was the entire and sole reason they sacrificed Pegasus

Andy

What is the expanse one you like better?

Honestly one of the greatest episodes of sci-fi television I ever saw. So much stuff culminates in this one. The acting is incredible from the cast in the more emotional moments.

Actually, Ellen did get what she wanted. She went to the Cylons and offered herself to Cavil. That was unexpected given her reputation in the fleet but that also confirms that she truly loved Saul. Cavil saw an opportunity there and used her to get intel on the rebels. However, in her last scene with Saul it's implied that Ellen knew the cup was poisoned and she accepted her fate anyway. She even told Saul that she'd do it again, meaning that she was ready to die as long as it meant that Saul lived. She got what she wanted. Go Ellen ❤️🤟🏻

Finally get the Adama maneuver!

#SundayRundown #BattlestarGalactica Regarding what Tigh did to Ellen. Rememeber, they'd been killing collaborators at any cost through the occupation, even doing suicide bombings with civilian casualties if necessary. Sparing Ellen, when she almost managed to do more damage than all other collaborators combined, just because she was Tigh's wife, would have been unacceptable hypocrisy to the rest of the resistance, and probably even to Tigh himself. He can't justify to himself what he's done to others if he spares Ellen. I think(?) you can see dead guards around Maya, so the whole squad got wiped. They weren't forgotten.

#SundayRundown More cylon model confusion here. The Six with Baltar when they find the baby Hera is NOT the tormented and abused Six from the Pegasus. That Six blew herself up with the nuke Baltar gave her. This Six, with Baltar and number 3 (Xena) now when they find the baby is Caprica Six, the Six who fell in love with Baltar while using him to infiltrate the defense mainframe on the original Caprica, the same Six who sees a version of Baltar in her head, who teamed up with Boomer to encourage peace with humans to the other Cylons. ALSO not to be confused with Head Six, the red dress lady entity who appears in Baltar's mind. Three different Sixes.

michael hogan this episode might be my favorite acting of anybody in the entire series

easily roslin’s biggest failure fakes hera’s death cause she ain’t want her in sharon’s hands and then loses her to balthar and six and three

jasmin

shoutout to the sexiest spaceship maneuver outside of the expanse!

jasmin

i’m just glad kacey back with her mother lol she musta been so confused

jasmin

i don’t know if any other fans feel this way but it felt like ellen knew it was drugged y3ni the way she stared right at him while sipping it kinda like she was tryna tell him it was okay or something

The reversal on how people feel about Ellen compared to when she was first introduced is always great. Tangential, but Bear McCreary was a guest on RLM last week.

#SundayRundown I don't think Adama knew about President Roslin stealing Hera in season 2. Watch that scene again guys, only Laura and Doc Cottle and the assistant Tory are in the room when the decision was made to steal Hera. So many good qoutes in this one. "Adama's back!" said Boomer followed by the look of absolute terror on the Cylons faces. Also when Pegasus arrives and Adama says, "Damn it Lee!" followed by "Thank you Lee!" Yes Marketa was right, Pegasus is much bigger than Galactica, stronger, has more guns, more missiles, more armor, had a factory that could build new vipers too. The fandom gives Lee a lot of shit for sacrificing the better ship. Kind of justified. But it makes sense in this specific scene, Pegasus has so many automated systems that you don't need a large crew to operate it. So it's a lot easier for a couple dozen crew to evacuate Pegasus in Raptors. They had to sacrifice a Battlestar, so they chose the one that only had a few people on it. Personally I think the show's budget was a factor, animating two cgi Battlestars and having two different interior sets probably cost a lot of money.

Lost it at "Leobin Alpha Male Skit" XD Right there with you Mickey that back then I thought it was pretty rushed, but it is getting even better than I remembered it this time around. The emotional punches in this episode where alread way up there and now just being able to understand where people may actually be coming from on top of certain politcal parallels. I was also really looking forward to how you guys would react to the Kacey's mother part espescially after Ketty asked "why aren't they making a big deal over this baby". You guys did great explaining it away yourselves, but in my mind I thought "oh she caught it" XD. Suraj mentioned the main part I really want to address being that the baby is a secret and Roslin can't have herself in close proximity to it. On the planet she could pass as just a teacher and just be around. but she is VERY aware of taking up leadership and optics going forward. We can always argue how minimal the security was but remember she already was getting questions and probably couldn't afford to be more overt with it. Next being that while yes it makes sense to hold on to Pegasus remember that the original plan was to go with ONLY Galactica and leave Pegasus with the remaining fleet. It wasn't just a question of preference bad planning.

Meh

I'll give Saul the benefit of the doubt and say selling out all those people to be killed including Laura might have been the deciding factor

With the history of both Ellen and Saul i think her luck just ran out with Saul. He's been so loyal and faithful to her over the years and she's repaid that loyalty by constantly cheating, openly flirting, dragging Saul into conflicts with people over problems she's caused. He's stood in-between her and anybody she's antagonized. She slept with someone else to save his life when she told him I think the only thing he could hear is that she slept with someone else again.

The Galactica is completely incapable of flying in an atmosphere, but it had to bypass the Cylons and get the Vipers and shuttles to the planet as fast as possible, and so what is known as the legendary Adama Maneuver, just drop like a rock then Jump away at the last possible instant. The Maneuver is insane because any error and of course the Galactica crashes killing everyone anyway, and even if it works it really fucks up the ship. Thats why no-one ever tried it before or even thought it was a possibility. The Galactica is a total mess afterwards, plus it takes time to spin up the jump drives even without damage it was a last ditch risky as all hell maneuver and it took the diamond hard massive balls of Adama to even attempt it. Of course without the Pegasus it would've failed anyway. I remember the speculation at the time of how the fuck they are going to get the population off new caprica and no-one predicted that.

#SundayRundown Battlestar Galactica here a info dump for this episode some people on the OG premier of this EP people hated lee for his decision to sacrifice the Pegasus. even with the Galactica being the name for the show it was the last of the original 12 Jupiter-class battlestars built during the first war and the Pegasus was a new gen larger Mercury-class battlestars improved for battle, could be crewed with fewer people and was able to produce parts and full new vipers on ship unlike the Galactica. the adama maneuver was a risk jumping inter atmosphere and jump out again it did great damage to the Galactica a ship over 50 years old. Adama trusted lee to lead the fleet and was planning that this was likely a oneway trip, and time for my music theory post at the end of the EP was the return of adama's theme of "reuniting the fleet" taking a new meaning since its first use in the episode "home part one". this time he reuniting his family that he had to abandon on the planet by saving them.
