Maybe I'm too traditional on this sort of thing, but I prefer that feeling of the old school 80s-90s romance. And this show nails it, probably because, as I'm sure you've heard a million times, Togashi's wife is Naoko Takeuchi, the author of Sailor Moon, and it feels like he asked for her input on the female characters as they were writing them, so Yusuke and Keiko's actions, while both still being a bit immature, seem reflective of a real dynamic between a boy and a girl.
