#SundayRundown Wow this has got to be a major trigger for Percy, he only just recently got over abandoning his sister to die with the briarwoods and now he has to deal with killing not just a member of the team but someone he’s rather fond of. His relationship with Vax was already spotty, jealous he’s gonna take his sister just like pat said, and this is only gonna take a further toll and you can’t help but wonder how it’ll end up affecting the party cohesion.

SUNDAYRUNDOWN the more I rewatch the show the more I vibe with the pat energy, my guys got the magic eye for this stuff I’m always excited to see what’s gonna come out of his mouth next. He was right the twins got that weird twin energy, they were even tied by fate and the friggin goddess of death had to sever it.

You guys should definitely watch table to screen compilations on youtube for seasons 1-2 (and 3?) when you're done (assuming Suraj isn't going to watch the whole campaign on his own, but it might be fun for everyone else to see)

#SundayRundown D&D Lore: Resurrection 🕊️ Now, it’s not ideal… but if you’re like me, you may like to eff around and find out. And sometimes the “find out” means your character straight DIES. 🤓 It says it right here in the rule book - 📖 “Massive damage can kill you instantly. When damage reduces you to 0 hit points and there is damage remaining, you die if the remaining damage equals or exceeds your hit point maximum. For example, a cleric with a maximum of 12 hit points currently has 6 hit points. If she takes 18 damage from an attack, she is reduced to 0 hit points, but 12 damage remains. Because the remaining damage equals her hit point maximum, the cleric dies…” ‼️ BANG ‼️ Dead 💀 — (not in the rule book) BUT FEAR NOT! Clerics and some magic items have spells that can bring you Back™️! Often at a cost of a very precious gemstone or something important as a Sacrifice. Many Dungeon Masters can find this makes dying in game less impactful if you’re rich, and it can. But there are ways around that. For example, each time a character dies, Matt rolls a pair of Percentile Dice (A pair of dice that can be any percent out of a 💯) If the party offers up things important to them or things that may feel compelling to the dead character, Matt lowers the number he needs to roll above to a minimum of 10% I think? The minimum threshold gets bigger each time the character dies… Finally… Matt asks the dead character if they wish to return? The afterlife can be a wonderful place and clerics can’t force a soul back into a body, only open the window and hope they fly back in. Necromancers on the other hand… may have some tricks but it’s not… moral. Like forcing a person into a small space but it’s your soul… Neither of these is what happened with Vex. This was some kind of bargain and god was like “ok… deal”

Oh dang, why?

Yeee 👍 Wtf with that three armed one tho???

Cool little Easter egg that I'm not sure anyone caught -- when Vax started seeing deities in his vision of the Calamity, Pike's deity the Everlight was in the background in one of the shots.

The Vex death illustrates the challenge of translating the game to a show. In game, death is solvable with sufficient magic and resources, and it’s a mechanic that everyone accepts as part of playing a game (Like health potions). Telling a story on a show, however, requires death to have meaning, or else the stakes quickly become minimal. Here, we get a glimpse with Vax’s bargain at how neither life, nor death, are free. There’s a cost, and that will be revealed gradually.

#Sundayrundown I love the scene where Vax accepts death in the fight with Purvon. You can't be a champion of the Goddess of Death and Fate if you fear death. Also did you see the trailer for next month's Dimension 20 season? It's the Take Down with wrestlers as players. I just bring it up as BAILEY is playing. It looks like their characters are fighting Greek God's in the ring. It should be fun - also includes Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Chelsea Green. I don't know if it would be a good reaction but it seems like something you would enjoy watching

#SundayRundown Vax is my favorite of the group because he is always ready to make a sacrifice to help his team, like always being the one to enter a room first to check for traps and in this episode making the ultimate sacrifice for his sister. I also cannot blame him for being upset with Percy, he told them not to touch anything, Percy didn't listen and it resulted in his sister being killed, if it was me I would have done more than just punch him. I also really loved the "trial" Vax had to go through to prove he's capable of being the Matron's Champion.

#sundayrundown#LOVM The vestiges of divergence and their wielders like Purvan Suul were born from a time when the world was truly on the brink of falling apart and everything was coming undone. Instead tragedy, pain and hope were forged into something powerful and the darkness was beat back. How fitting is it that when tragedy and loss struck Liam O'Brien and he was given a chance to walk away from Vax he instead chose to turn his pain and grief into something into positive and powerful.

#SundayRundown - Okay, let's talk about Liam Obrien. At this point in the campaign, Liam was going through a lot IRL. He had just lost his mother, he had his own major health scare, and he was sinking into a really deep depression. To the point he didn't even know if he could or should continue the show. He and Matt spoke pretty extensively about it, and Matt started to tailor Vax's story in a way to help Liam process his very real emotions. See at the time in the game, Vax was starting to form a relationship with the everlight(Pike's goddess). He was going to take a level or two in the Paladin class and even started wearing a symbol of the everlight on his glove. The MOMENT that Vax made the deal with The Raven Queen, his everlight symbol rusted away and fell to the ground signifying that Vax is no longer walking the path of the everlight. The episode sort of touched on that with the fight with Purvon. The more Vax fought against the champion of the death goddess, the harder things became. It wasn't until he accepted it that he was wearing the armor and passed the trial. Much in the same way that until Liam learned to accept death's place within the cycle of life, he couldn't move forward. He's talked many times in the past about how important this story was for him. He went pretty in depth in an episode of Between The Sheets(which has since been scrubbed from the internet). This was a testament not only to Matt and Liam's friendship, but also to the potential healing power of table top roleplaying games. Many therapists now are actually using DnD and various other TTRPG's as a means of therapy. Being able to explore and process complex emotions in a safe and controlled environment can be incredibly cathartic. I mean obviously don't just join a group of strangers and project your struggles into the game. But if you've got a group of people you trust and feel safe with, TTRPGs can be life changing as Liam himself has attested to.

That shot when Vax flies up and then it pans out to show the mosaic of the Matron behind him is one of my favorite shots in the entire show. It was my laptop background for ages. I love this episode. This time was such a turning point for the party and for Vax in particular. I cant wait to see how you guys react to how this plays out. Also special shout out to Navi - her notetaking has been on point!!

Vax isn't specifically creating daggers out of thin air, it's typically the same 2-3 daggers. In the campaign he has a magic belt that when he throws a dagger it appears back on his belt, in the show during the bar brawl in the very first episode, we're seen when he throws a dagger is disappears and reappears back in his hand.
