this is a very appropriate time for this episode to come back with the horrors done to adriana smith

tbf you point about it taking so long is exactly why they have to start spitting babies out now. its going to take years to grow years to train and unless you start forcing children to work or fight that means at least 18 years.. that means all trade workers can never retire they are slaves to their jobs and when they die all those skills go with them. its very complicated and controversal but the longer you delay having children the longer that process takes and the more work and stress is put on the few trades people that already live. hate to be that guy but the vast majority of the fleet are do nothing civilians and the fighters and workers die every episode.

Let's not forget that Baltar talked his way out of an Apocalypse. He would actually would be a grear politician in the real world lol

Javi alias Hiei

Hated her character in The 100.

So glad that we got past this episode where Lee becomes Commander and Baltar becomes the presidential candidate. It also introduced one of my favorite humans Rekha Sharma. She's Indo-Fijjan and has been a staple of sci-fi shows (made in Canada of course) for over 20 years. And y'all saw her in The 100 as Dr. Lorelei Tsing for a bit. Well nothing else happened whatsoever so see y'all next time.

It's amazing how relavent (possibly even more so now) this show still is today. A point you guys sorta made, but not really is that Gay-ass' projections still can only account for natural and some societal variables. The biggest issue of course is security. I don't think they should be worryng about an abortion ban if they can't even go a month without risking an extinction level encounter with the Cylons. Even if they start spitting out babies right now it's going to be about a decade before they're able to really start maybe picking up trades, and who can say how long before we can say they can really replace anyone. Also the election they had before was ONLY for the Vice President after it became known publicly that Roselin was dying of cancer and they wanted a democratic input into who her successor would be should she pass before the election. Fearing the likelihood of a Tom Zarak Presidency they picked Gay-ass fraking Baltar as a recognized "trusted" name expecting him to just be sidelined. They are however still only serving the remainder of President Adar's term right now.

I loved this reaction, and the difference AND similarities to air date watcher reactions is fascinating. No one trusted Baltars data about the birth rate, where as air date watchers didn’t even doubt that, they just thought it was such a slimey thing to take advantage of. Ah, the era of fake news, my neurons are still firing it was just so interesting to watch. Lot of my engineers friends had different opinions on Gavin, those who were like them were mad for him, those of us like me who have witnessed people who are great at what they do but not great at interpersonal communication and macro level direction. We all agreed he was a real one at the end of the day, just promoted to the wrong position, we gave him like a solid min of “o7”s in the chat. Genuinely would love a Star Trek reaction since Ronald Moore started in Star Trek TNG but honestly DS9 is probably the closest Star Trek to battlestar galactica spiritually. Loved it guys, can wait for more reactions

What a nice, light, cozy episode of Battlestar Galactica. Self-sacrifice and abortion. They pack in so much into a single episode. Garner was a terrible commander, but I feel like he was just someone put into the wrong position. Adama even said that "Garner was my fault". He should have stayed with his engines (which he was amazing at). I love that I agree with every word coming out of Baltars mouth at the end about how giving up our freedoms one by one slowly turns us into the cylons. But because it was Gaius, I was cringing the whole time. Personally, I get where Laura was coming from (she has been put into the position of saving humanity and extinction is a real possibilty when no one wants to have kids, I wouldn’t want to have one in space), but I would wait until we were down to like 1000 before I started outlawing human rights. Finally, I love Lee's line about Garner (especially in the context of this show): "He was used to working with machines. Command is about people."
