Ehhh we can skip the next two superman. The fourth one is barely a movie. Superman and Louis is probably the peak adult Superman story.

2025-07-22 09:28:15 +0000 UTCI also recently rewatched this movie and the Donner cut. I ended up preferring the Lester cut but also I want to add some scenes from the Donner version. One of the things you have to get about Lois and Clark (and any iteration), the reason why they work (especially post-crisis) is that Lois is willing to do anything to get a story, and having Superman fall in love with her just meant that Lois takes it as permission to be as unhinged as possible. Honestly, I've forgotten a lot about Superman 3, which some people still defend but I have not heard a good word about Superman 4: Quest for Peace. BTW, I LOVED the Superman 2025 movie and I can't wait for you guys to watch it!

2025-07-20 08:44:34 +0000 UTCYeah, i won't say much for spoilers, but i rewatched this and the first movie right before the new one came out and when watching the new one there's a goal of Lex's in that one that is like....straight up similar to one his goals in these first two, and i was surprised lmao, granted they are for completely different reasons.

2025-07-20 00:05:59 +0000 UTCI'm not super big on Superman's history, but surely the reason he has a bunch of random fucking powers at the end (mind wipe, clone jutsu, restriction symbol etc) is because it was pre Crisis Superman, right? Since this movie came out before the Crisis on Infinite Earths reset in the comics. Like wasn't pre Crisis Superman broken as fuck? And had a bunch of wacky, random powers like that? So it was probably because of that, no? So that was just "normal" for Superman back, i suppose. Also fuck it, watch 3 and 4 as well. And Returns as well, since it's technically Reeve's Superman still (but in an alt universe where 3 and 4 didn't happen and the timeline of 1 and 2 is moved up a bit from the 70/80s to the 90s iirc). I know 3 and 4 are seen as meh, but i don't mind 3 (used to watch it all the time as a kid alongside 1 and 2, so defo some nostalgia bias lmao) and 4 is "so bad it's good" territory imo, could be a really funny watch lol. Lastly - Superman 2025 is fucking phenomenal. Most fun i've had with a superhero movie in years. Genuinely made me feel all kind of emotions, hype, fun, sadness, made me tear up a few times, banger movie.

2025-07-19 23:52:37 +0000 UTCI'd be down for 3 and 4, they're goofier but would be fun. Are they on HBO in the US? Only 1 and 2 are on HBO Canada, although I know 3 is on STARZ. And I want to see more swooning over Reeve! And RIP to Margot Kidder as well. She had a lot of personal struggles after her run as Lois, and a tragic end, but I'll always love her Lois Lane.

One skit specifically makes fun of something from this movie I’m pretty sure that person at the Falls was saying Superman was Jewish. In fact his creators were Jewish immigrants Terrance Stamp plays another character in a big sci fi franchsie. Chancellor Valorum in Phantom Menace, who Palpatine gets voted out with his manipulation fuckery The Donner Cut depower reasoning: His dad basically tells him he has to prioritize his duty to everyone over giving attention to one person, and Clark says he loves Lois more than the good feeling of helping people and believes he’s done enough and deserves happiness like everyone else. So Jor El says if he wants to live like everyone else he has to become like everyone else. Donner Cut also actually shows how he gets his powers back. He puts in the green crystal and Jor El appears basically saying this was a test and he passed it by admitting he made a mistake. His powers can be restored, but the energy required to do it will erase the artificial Jor El from the fortress forever, so he tells Clark goodbye before giving him the energy. Those Brando scenes are really good A TV cut shows the kryptonians being taken away by antarctic police after their defeat. I don’t think the scene’s ever been restored Lex is kinda left unresolved because Gene Hackman was pissed about Donner’s firing and refused to film anymore. This is why sometimes you don’t see his face, it’s a double. Having recently watched them for the first time, I’m definitely down for 3 and 4. They’d be fun.
