2025-06-06 11:33:30 +0000 UTC#SundayRundown I really loved this episode for highlighting how messed up and beautiful Starbuck is. She can be a real asshole, but she deeply cares about what she does, remembers who has died and those that have been left behind. Watching Andor recently reminded me of this episode. Particularly Luthen’s monologue about burning his life for a sunrise he’ll never see. That’s basically what Starbuck was saying when she and Lee were getting drunk. Also, the whole toasting to the dead that Cassian and Vel did at the end of Andor reminded me of the end of this episode. I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers of Andor were fans of BSG. The show won a Peabody award and influenced a lot of writers.

Yes that 6 wanted to die because of the trauma, but there is NO removing it from her sum total. Without the resurrection ship she does not come back but they can still make 6s that will never be that same 6. Of course you always have the bigger debate of is it not the same person if they just give her the same baseline memories up to a certain point, and where those memories start to diverge As for the ships themselves it's probably best to compare them to cell phone towers providing the resurrection function for a specific region of space. Don't recall if it's ever specified if the ships are just relays to the "home world" or if they just straight up do the ressurection thing stand alone (I assume the latter).
