how could he be a better king if he let his hate guide his actions

jamesnightblade

Bruh, what? Lol I don't think they get this show at all.

I don't think the idea of killing Envy is the problem, it's that torturing a defenseless being to death with hate in your heart is generally considered wrong. Lust was a present and active threat, Roy killed her while she kept coming at him, that's not the same thing as if she were defenseless and begging for mercy. Does Envy deserve it? Absolutely. Would Envy probably be sentenced to death? Most likely. But it's not the same thing as slowly and torturously executing a defenseless opponent for personal catharsis, it's sadistic and masturbatory lol

And as expected the point of this episode went completely over this group's head. Shocker....

Gangster Gastino

Why is Scar condemned for going after the people who genocided his whole race but Mustang is cheered for going after someone who killed Hughes (who is also a war crime enjoyer) ayo fuck hughes 💀there I said it-

Mohamed

I hope after the end you look into a deconstruction, of the irony of the sins deaths

Herberderber

Ya’ll missed the post credit scene. Shame!

You guys should know better by now that you should wait a second before immediately turning off the episode...

Big Time Knights

Envy was evil. There is no doubt about that however, they were doing the exact thing Mustang did. Following orders. Mustang murdered so many people--burned them alive. Envy was a flaw of humanity. They were made that way. At the end of their life they saw exactly how flawed they were and they hated it. I pity Envy. What a sad life to live and I'm glad Mustang didn't have to lose himself to grief and revenge. He let his love for Hawkeye and his hope for a better country win over.

It's literally the tipping point for him as a character. He's absolutely done worse things but it was as a pawn in the hands of others. This would be a pointless murder done purely for hatred. And once you've become okay with doing something like that it becomes easier each and every time to do more and more questionable shit. Which, with his ambition and intelligence, he absolutely would be able to do. Scar even acknowledges it's not impossible for him to come back, just very unlikely... something of which he is very self-aware of, having done just that. But the better initial outcome, now that Envy is defeated (because even if by some chance he got away and got more stones Roy could effortlessly burn him away again; the actual risk here is quite minimal, and Envy only got this revival because he was in the hands of a literal little girl) there is no point but giving into selfish hate for *him* to finish Envy off. They're going to kill Envy regardless, he's only being insistent on doing it himself for those negative reasons. And giving into those impulses would put him on the exact same path as all of the selfish villains in this show. Which none of his friends/allies want because they know he's capable of better. Literally one of the main narrative points of the whole fucking show.

More like a "during credits". Idk how they missed this one, all that happened was some credits showing up during a scene.

Holy shit you guys were slow in that Roy scene where they tried to stop him from killing Envy. Holyyyyyyy. That was frustrating lmaoo. This stuff doesn't typically bother me but you guys reaction to Roy not being the one to kill Envy was hard to watch. Soooo many themes went over your heads during that scene. 35:08 Envy was literally obliterated a few seconds later. Patience normies. Rana is usually better with understanding stuff like this and not immediately overreacting with rage. But i think it really does depend on what group she's with. She feeds off wherever the energy is going. Goes with the flow.

I hope they watch Vinland Saga S2 at some point, they would probably appreciate this episode more after that

The funny thing about this reaction is that when it was first revealed that this group would be reacting to FMAB, I INSTANTLY knew this would be their collective take with them wanting Mustang to kill Envy. For me, I'm with the characters in that I feel pure pity for Envy for how insecure and pathetic they are. Even though Envy deserves everything it gets coming to them I think the voice acting makes me feel sympathetic even though they definitely don't deserve it. Also, the difference between Mustang killing Lust vs Envy, is that for Lust he was doing to to protect his friends, as for Envy it was pure hatred and revenge while torturing the enemy. Whether you think that you can come back from being in that mindset for revenge is up to you, but I agree that being in that mindset sets a precedent for you where you might fall into those habits again. Its kinda like one of the reasons for Batman not killing, he knows he can't come back if he crosses that line because once you cross that line, its harder to justify not doing it again. Again its up to you if you think you can control yourself, but for me I think that I wouldn't be the same person anymore.

Tom

Right there with you on the Envy part XD Probably what I'd consider the only bad part of the show. I think this part is really only there because narratively they wanted to break down Envy as a character. Which is good but like you guys said it just took way too long, and Roy's vengence just is not compareable at all to Envy's....... I'm not sure there's a term to scale up from war crimes. There's no reason to think THIS is going to change Roy or make him become some kind of unjust tyrant at all.

Benjamin Donahue

Do they need like Chris with them to explain things? Rana even said "he looks so evil right now" or something to that effect when he was snapping at Envy. The future leader shouldn't be doing some revenge torture fueled by emotion and rage.

Adrian Aldridge

Missed an after credits. A pretty important one too unfortunately

AvantiGB

They were planning on killing envy they just didn’t want mustang to do it because he was giving off evil vibes. He’s supposed to be the future leader, he can’t go on revenge rampage every time someone dies.
