2025-05-06 17:34:29 +0000 UTCNancy Marchand (Livia) was amazing. Prior to being on the Sopranos, she was nominated for an Emmy five times and won 4. She was also nominated for a Tony award. Her performance on the Sopranos got her two more Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win.

2025-05-05 22:04:50 +0000 UTCLet me break down the hierarchy as it is currently: (spoiler free) Boss: The head honcho, the guy in charge, all the captains kick up 10% of their weekly earnings to him and he gets the final say on most family business, this is currently Junior Consigliere: This is an advisor to the boss and second in command, think of him as the vice President. He takes a skim off the bosses cut and also will run his own businesses. In season 1, its not been made clear who the consigliere is of Jersey as of yet Capo: Captains, there are usually between half a dozen and a dozen of these guys depending on the size of the family. These guys run a crew and all their men kick up their money to their captain, and the captain kicks up to the boss. crew sizes vary. Tony, Jimmy, Larry and Raymond are the captains in Jersey. Soldier: These are made guys, official mafioso, they enjoy the full rights of a mafia member, no non-made guy would dare mess with them, and even other made men cannot touch them without express permission from the boss. However, they are obligated to earn a significant amount of money each week and kick it up to their captain, there is usually a minimum amount or a percentage, whichever is greater. As well as being untouchable, they also will usually be given a business to run as a front and to earn money, Silvio has the strip club, Pussy has a car garage, Paulie runs a sports bookie. They will also all usually run a shylock business and have money out on the streets as loan sharks. Paulie, Silvio, Pussy are soldiers in Tony's crew, Mikey is a soldier in Juniors crew. Associates: These guys run with the mafia, but are not made. They dont enjoy the benefits of being made and what comes with it, and although they kick up a percentage of what they earn, they are not obligated to earn a certain amount but they also dont get given real responsibility and their earning capabilities are limited. Chris is currently an associate.

2025-05-05 18:08:05 +0000 UTCPersonally, this is my favorite episode of season one with Pax Soprana is a play on Pax Romana which is the Roman Empire’s 200 year Golden Age. The ending is a great work of storytelling without dialogue. The song at the end was 'Paparazzi' by Xzibit, which equated the FBI to paparazzi waiting around to get their pictures. Tony’s plan is working well, as the FBI thinks Junior is the boss, so he’ll take the fall if they ever move in on them. However, it’s working too well, as Junior looks down on Tony as the boss because Tony gave him that position.
