I love that we’re getting to expand on the human world as well as the demon world, seeing this entire black market of demon world creatures and items really gives you a new perspective on the world. Especially seeing this squid game ass rich dudes club where they just gamble on the wildest stuff, interesting to see the only one on the side of our here’s is the young rich dude while all the old dried up taint raisins go in on the demon squad.

That voice actor for the crime boss is Oolong from dragon ball, I never even noticed before.

Guys, just a reminder... Usually, when characters in anime or manga talk about money, they mean yens, not dollars. Sakyo bets 5 billion yens which 30 years ago would've been around 50 million dollars 😉 It's still a lot of money but makes much more sense.

Javi alias Hiei

You've got some soft spoilers here that I'd recommend rewording.

#SundayRundown #YuYuHakusho When I first watched, I thought the red string business was either just Kuwabara being a goofball, or using his spirit awareness which, for this mission, took the form of a red string. Years later, as I became more familiar with Japanese culture, I discovered that the Red String Of Fate is an actual thing in Japan. That is to say...it's a CONCEPT that actually exists in East Asia, related to "one true love" and the "soulmate". The belief is that 2 people who are destined to be together are connected by an unbreakable red string tied to their fingers. Often depicted tied to the pinkies specifically, as it is here.

#sundayrundown Toguro seems to have a soft spot for animals—sort of a nod to Togashi’s influence. I’ve been noticing themes of animal commodification and exploitation in Togashi’s work (even hinted at with Yukina). When Toguro admits he doesn’t have a lot of hidden talents, I almost felt an urge to give him a hug—until I remembered his impressive knack for bulking up. He’s amazing at building muscle and strength; talk about disciplined bodybuilding. Gym enthusiasts could really take a lesson in humility from the buff Toguro. Yusuke and Kuwabara breezed through their battle much more effortlessly than they did against the Four Saint Beasts, which really shows just how much stronger the Saint Beasts are compared to the current foes. I absolutely love Kuwabara. He’s a riot—his method of tracking down Yukina by following what he believes is the red string of fate connecting them is hilarious. Plus, his new headband boldly declaring his love for her is just perfect; Kuwabara never fails to make me smile. Yusuke and Kuwabara have been dispatching the demons from the Apparition Gang with ease. They quickly take out the spider demon, and even when swarmed by a large group, they manage to look incredibly cool as they wipe them out. The fight scenes featuring these two were superb, highlighted by some really well-done animation. I also found it amusing that Turakane chose to bet on Yusuke and Kuwabara alongside a bunch of gangsters. Sakyou, in particular, stands out. He’s the only one wagering on them, clearly aware of the rumors about humans possessing spiritual powers, and he’s staking far more money than anyone else. Hiei’s progress on the mission is intriguing, although he’s not exactly teaming up with Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Botan yet. I’m hoping he joins them soon and that we learn a bit more about his past along the way. When Yusuke and Kuwabara make their entrance at Turakane’s mansion—emerging from those fiery woods—they absolutely exude badassery. I still wonder why Hiei maintains his tsundere stance. Even though he likely shares the same goal, he’s keeping his distance instead of joining the team. I hope he doesn’t simply bide his time waiting for a dramatic last-second entrance. On a different note, the villain’s butler has a striking resemblance to a character from HxH—the one known for his speedy dashes in the early episodes (check out this comparison: https://imgur.com/a/yyh-hxh-butler-examiner-comparison-FY7Fw). There are three standout moments from this episode: 1. Toguro’s Coercion: When he’s pressured into killing Hellen, it’s absolutely intense. I remember his lines—“Of course, in my line of work I do many things that I do not enjoy” and “Hey, don't blame me. Blame the science that created you and the human that made me KILL!”—which instantly made him the epitome of badassery. 2. Hiei’s Flashback: We get a glimpse into Hiei’s past, learning that he wasn’t always marked by the Jagan eye. This hints at his possible motivations, though the full details are slated for later, building anticipation for his upcoming dark tournament fight. 3. Kuwabara’s Emotional Depth: The show does an exemplary job of developing Kuwabara’s character. Even though he behaves in ways that might normally be frustrating—especially in challenging situations—his unique personality makes you root for him. For long-time fans, his emotional journey has been unforgettable proving that while the fight scenes are cool, the true strength of the show lies in its character development.
