The grift is very real in many communities, especially in the SW community. It's pretty bad when one knows exactly what those people are going to say before even seeing a single second of their clips.

Feeding that negativity trend is easy for increased viewership. Like nothing can be positive, everything is woke, and if they are proven wrong on something, they simply don't cover it.

2025-05-05 23:01:22 +0000 UTCI think the people who say “Joel deserved it” miss the entire point of the Last of Us. It’s still the same binary, tribalistic thinking. That’s exactly what the story criticizes. No one deserves that treatment. That’s the point. Joel was seen as an unrepentant monster by Abby until she realized that torturing Joel brought her no peace. The through line between the game is that the only thing that gives life meaning is connection. Not closing yourself off and living on auto-pilot. Not falling into savagery in some endless war. Only truly connecting with other people is the cure for mankind. That is the last of us when all else is lost.
