So funny personal story with this episode, when I watched this episode for the first time my mom came into the room just when Winry's bathing scene started. She came in saw what was on the TV and walked out before I could even explain. It does not matter what anime you're watching and how well crated it is, your family will always walk in on you at the worst point and think you're watching some sort of hentai.

I think its just really complicated, calling him a good or bad father is too black and white. His situation is so so strange and complex. He did some things wrong he did some things right. Hohenheim is just trying to do his best and sometimes he falls short, a lot of the time actually but he never acts maliciously or even selfishly he just makes mistakes. Unfortunately for him his mistakes have planet shaking consequences.

Ling calling out Greed is one of the best moments in the show

He was going to tell children that he's a living philosopher stone made up of dead souls?

#SundayRundown #FMA I know some fans will disagree but I never really thought of Hohenheim as a bad father. Also you guys seem to have misunderstood/misremembered why he left. Like yeah he isn't the best for leaving but given the literal country ending threat that is Father(The dwarf in the Flask) he had a very good reason for going it wasn't that he couldn't deal with them growing old without him, that wasn't his reasoning for leaving it was directly about Father and the threat he posed on the country his wife and kids live in. Also whenever someone asks "why didn't he just tell them" I always felt its pretty obvious, Ed and Al were literal children at the time lol. They were 4&5 when he left what the hell was he going to accomplish by telling literal toddlers other then scare and traumatize them assuming they even understood. Not to mention its heavily implied his wife knew who he was and why he had to go and she of course died before Ed & Al were old enough for her to really explain. Its really just unfortunate timing she passed on before he returned. So yeah could he have called or sent letter sure but given the enormity of the task at hand, I feel he should be given some slack for not being around and Al seems to agree given his reaction this episode as for Ed's reaction we'll have to wait and see.
