Jfc, hearing Komamura’s dub in this episode for the first time and he absolutely killed it. Same with the big dog Yamamoto (tho, his voice is just satisfying). One thing that made me realize from this episode, the thing that makes him different from Tosen, is that he didn’t abandon his comrades for his revenge. He knew he was on a time limit and he still helped them.

I love shinji so much I will take any opportunity to say that. My goat.

#Sunday Rundown https://youtu.be/8ofKrRHECkI?si=py4zDXgA2x578klB The link above is Kisuke and Aizen talking about the soul king. Since you guys started talking about what the soul king is or what. Plus I love how Aizen and yhwa definitely throw in that the soul society isn't entirely in the right of how they do things. Love how kubo throws in gray elements into the world of bleach. Especially Osho because of what shunsui said saying about what his true motivations are.

Yea Bambi would cause monumental issues with her Schrift against most opponents. I wonder what happened to her after they found her

Step B.

[Tidbits] - We learned from Kluboutside that the surname Komamura was given to Sajin by Yamamoto - Here Komamura has given his heart, his very life for his cause, and in this case it's for revenge. This is a through-line setup with his conflict with Tosen, who he condemned for seeking revenge, and just like Tosen Komamura is left here an empty hollow man, which is a pretty potent message. (Komamura giving his heart is also a nod to his line when he was speaking to Tosen before he died. He said: "If I lost you, I would have a hole in my heart") . - Kubo-Sensei wanted to include the Irazusando theme in the manga, but due to certain restraints, he couldn't. So In the Blu-Ray we actually get to learn what this training actually does. [These are comments by the series director] : The Irazusando pathway tries to push people away from the stone road, the more one tries to resist the push, the heavier the bokuto (wooden sword) gets. Ichigo dragged his feet forward to not stray away from the stony pathway, and the pathway of Irazusando is actually 'cursed. As one walks through the Irazusando road, they are not supposed to look at the stone path, but focus on the torii-gate instead. Ichigo suffered because his gaze was on the stone. The heavier his steps became, the torii-gate turned whiter and whiter. The rain that falls outside makes the body decay, so if Ichigo had strayed off the road, his body would have rotted away. : Irazusando road is depicted as an 'Inka hall'. 'Inka' means a philosophical 'seal' in which obtaining the seal is considered to be the highest form of understanding of one's innermost soul. 'Inka' translates to 'transmission' in which a student receives his teacher's philosophies. Here, Ichigo's zen buddhist teacher is the monk, and Ichigo obtains the seal from Ichibe Hyosube, which is meant to uplift or evolve Ichigo's soul. [Sidenote: The Humanification technique has always been interesting to me, metaphorically it seems that to be Human means having desire yet the aspect that makes you a beast is giving into those desires despite knowing what harm may come from it.] [Sidenote2: Quincy are depicted as angelic, they dress in all white and have wings when they use Volstanding, where as Shinigami are death gods who dress in all black, this speaks to the very gray nature of Bleach as a story and actually is a nice hint to larger lore implications.]

#Sunday Rundown So its time for you to hear about some interesting fandom stuff that was going around at the time of Bleach airing. So Komamura was considered a bit of a meme. The joke was basically that Komamura could never win, not as much a meme as Chad or Renji but a meme non the less. However this chapter in the manga basically made people weep for a person who had this said about him in a relatively large fandom area: "There is one fundamental truth to the universe greater than the fact that filler villains always win their first fight, and its that Komamura always loses."

Sajin Komamura’s Zanpakuto Tenken (Shikai) - “Heavenly Retribution” Release command is “Roar” Kokujō Tengen Myō'ō (Bankai) - “Divine Retribution, Black Ropes of Ruination” Kokujō Tengen Myō'ō: Dangai Jōe (Human Form Bankai) - “Divine Retribution, Black Ropes of Ruination: Armor Repulsion Rope Raiment”

For some reason I feel like Kubo writes Shinji like he's his favorite character but at the same time he doesn't want Shinji to be his favorite character

Gangster Gastino

Shinjis bankai on grunts. The original bankai is much better

#SundayRundown The other voice actor for Kenpachi is actually in the original Bleach also. He voices him after the Nnoitra fight and also the Fullbringer arc. Also, keep in mind at this point Sajin is the FIRST/ONLY character to beat a Quincy in their release form. Ichigo technically didnt beat Quilge. I just find it so cool how out of nowhere and out of all the captains Sajin is the one to accomplish that feat. Furthermore he defeated the leader of a whole subgroup of the sternritters who easily could've had an impact with her ridiculous aoe attacks

First Shinji bankai and now we get Komamura bankai. Back to back hype with TYBW greatness. Komamura's human form is dope.

Also cannot wait for the rest of cour 2 and for y'all to start cour 3. I hope y'all do discord discussion questions for cour 3, as it has a ton of content both in the manga and completely new. Definitely do one for the first batch you watch for cour 3

This is one of my favorite episodes of TYBW. Such an amazing moment, great writing and for such an underrated character. Sajin is not always on the list of favorite captains for some people but they gave him one of the best scenes of this arc. The fight was great, the new bankai look was awesome. Such a tragic and dark turn for this character. That he succumbs to revenge, thus forgetting the lessons he once said to Tosen. The music, the giant dog's voice, everything just turned out perfect for this scene. "Curse your lot, wallow in your vengeance, and I will drink deep of your dark resentment and live on". This line gives me chills for some reason. What a great episode.
