In D&D making solo lone wolf runs like this episode are usually ill advised and at worst highly disruptive. It's so easy for the dice to screw you over, and if you are solo with no backup that usually just means you die. In the live play this was around an hour of Sam essentially playing solo with Matt, it was entertaining and wonderfully chaotic. Scanlan was improv'ing in character just as much as Sam. A bunch of the stuff that the main group runs into actually happened to Scanlan in the other house. It speaks to how well this group works together and how talented they are that they were engaged just as much as the viewers while Sam had such an extended spotlight on him. Once they decided to animate this arc of the campaign this was straight to the top of the anticipated scenes.
