Not knowing too much of the history, I don’t know if watching anything Star Trek related was ever discussed or if maybe you decided somewhere along the way that it wouldn’t get the traction you’d need to do reactions. Catherine Tate became famous in her own right in the UK where she had her own sketch show and characters before she was on Doctor Who. She never really "broke" the U.S.--she's like if Tracey Ullman just stayed zeroed in on UK culture.
