She settled herself onto the pool floor in a matter of seconds, closing her eyes while kneeling and spreading her legs apart. The world was filled with the deafening thrum of her heartbeat. She could feel the water cool her body, bubbles sticking to her from her descent floating free across her skin on the quickest route to the surface. The pressure against her ears coupled with her heartbeats made it a struggle to even maintain a shred of focus. While trivial and natural in the past, the dive has become a challenge unlike any she has experienced. Yet, she pressed on, and slowly managed to find a peace within the chaos of the distractions, clenching her facial muscles to resist absentmindedly parting her lips.
