As you guys noticed, the kids in the movie are the ones actually doing their stunts. Kung Fu schools are absolutely brutal and a whole lot of abuse takes place that makes Cobra Kai look like a joke. As much as Jackie Chan say that wasn't Kung Fu, in reality its pretty much what happens to a lot of schools. It's how the kids in these movies are able to take hits and be successful.
On a less depressing note, the Mountains in the movie are called the Wudang Mountains home of Taoists monasteries. Taoists wear Dark Blue/Black & White outfits which makes jaden's final fit make sense, since this was where Jackie Chan learned Kung Fu.
Also if the name sounds familiar, its also known as Wu-Tang :)

Thatβs totally fair! Like I said, most all of that stuff is subjective and those are just my personal thoughts on it. I think itβs completely valid for anybody to disagree or feel differently. Either way, this movie has gotten a lot of hate, starting even before it was ever finished and released, and I definitely donβt think thatβs justified because itβs a really solid remake with some great scenes.

I knew you guys would like this movie. So many powerful moments that were directed so well.. from "everything is kung fu" to Mr Hans emotional backstory. The fight choreography is so much better than the old Karate Kid movies, they made great use of the filming locations, and Jaden Smith is UNDERRATED as a child actor. It's honestly sad the amount of hate it gets from loser millenials/gen x clowns that cant let go of the 80s and think Mr. Miyagi is the greatest fictional character ever.

The emotions, music and cinematography is what got me to like 2010's version a bit more! Maybe I need to rewatch 1984's version again now that I'm older but, I didn't feel as emotional attached to daniel and the story as I did in the 2010 version. That's just me though and I know that I'm apart of a small audience that feels the same way haha

Just to push back a little, I think the action is the only part you can say is definitionally βobjectively betterβ, since thereβs clearly more technique and athleticism involved. The fights are great and superior, but the rest is pretty subjective.
I was fairly young when this was coming out, probably target audience age. I definitely liked it a lot back then, and I still do now but Iβd have a hard time stating itβs just outright better than the OG. It copies it almost beat for beat but doesnβt add much to the story, despite doing it very well. Myagi is one of the most iconic movie characters ever, and while Jackie Chan always brings it and Mr. Han is good, itβs just not as fresh and not at the same level. His relationship with Daniel is also better written to me than Dre and Han, even with the great car scene in the remake.
Thereβs a reason people still talk about the 1984 version forty years later and it was able to spawn a hugely successful spinoff show in the modern day. I know some people are turned off by how stylized and 80s it seems now but I think the core of the story has held up incredibly well.

You guys should check out The Foreigner, it's a Jackie Chan movie from 2017 that has old Jackie doing crazier stunts than in this movie. Plus it's pretty damn good!

I grew up with this movie and went and watched the old one and was like "people say this is better than the new one???" I understand why because those people grew up with that one, but the action, emotion, setting in this one is objectively better

I love this movie, I remember seeing it for the first time in theaters. I stand by the belief that if Dre was in the sekai tekai, he's whooping Robby and Miguel idc
