Man this ep of Angel is just so crazy. Really cool new villain but then there's the Cordelia and Connor scenes... My least favorite storyline in any media ever. But your reactions were gold!

2024-08-29 21:52:00 +0000 UTCI heard someone mentioned the idea that they shoulda/coulda had Xander see/talk to Jesse, and think that could have been a really interesting idea. That could have been a great way to get inside his head more, but then I’m influenced by a theory I’ve had about Jesse for ages. I always felt like Xander’s feelings about Angel could have been partly tied to/affected by his grief and coming to terms with Jesse’s death. We only got to know him in the 2 part pilot, but it’s implied he’s Xander’s closest friend aside from Willow…and Xander killed him. Yes he was a vampire and yes it was partly accidental, but he still killed his best friend. I always wondered if Xander refused to believe there could be any redemption for Angel(whether by cursed soul or whatever else) because if there’s ANY way for a vampire to be saved or redeemed, then his guilt over killing Jesse might be more than he could live with. That if Jesse of all people didn’t get to be saved or have a chance at redemption, then why the hell would he want to give that chance to someone he dislikes already like Angel. It would add an extra layer to Xander, making it more than just pettiness or jealousy on his part.
