Meta(DEV)log 1/9/2025

Hey Everyone!

Hope you all have been enjoying the latest patch and had fun during the holidays!

I think for this one we should start with a quick retrospective on 2024 in and out of direct development and then transition to what we have planned for 2025!

Hentai Expo 2024

While a relatively small gaming event, it was super exciting for us to participate in last year’s Hentai Expo. We even got our first ever trailer made! It was pretty surreal for us seeing Emma up there with a bunch of very well known games and developers from the east and west!

I hope we can participate in 2025’s event too!

DEVELOPMENT

We overcame some pretty big obstacles last year and I think overall pretty happy with what we accomplished, particularly with our 2D art pipeline. Did you know well over 35 base images were produced in 2024? Base as in not including any variations or the three characters that were designed!

We also added a bunch of new chibi sprites,

and some updated/better maps like the Boiled Crab where we experimented with nut drawing out the map first!

We also updated all our tier images!
The artist behind many of our pinups also created images for each tier level. Emma is featured dipping her toes, snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea diving, in a shark suit and in a mega shark suit!

There were also a lot of changes behind the scenes, improvements to how we implement new content (which should have a great effect on 2025’s content production) and a LOT of work on systems to be implemented during the 0.2 cycle. I’m very excited to begin rolling out this year’s patches but first, we had some more changes outside of the .exe!

New Team Members

Starting out in a small capacity we brought on CD to help with the game’s combat implementation and balancing. He’s made some big brained moves already and I can’t wait for you all to see his work in action this year!

I’ve also started talks with some others to potentially bring on board during 2025 in various capacities. 

New Logo

Holy guacamole! A new Logo!?

You probably noticed it in our Christmas or New Year’s pinups but yeah, that’ll be our logo for the game going forward!

So what do you think?

Our original logo does have a special place in my heart but unfortunately it becomes illegible very quickly at smaller sizes. Particularly the subtitle exhibits this very quickly.

So with our new logo, the main goal was to remedy this. I love how it turned out, 

We will probably start rolling out the logo to all our branding with 0.2.25 RC’s release. 

Milestones

2024 was also a big year in terms of people following the project on various platforms as well as direct funding on the game.

Which brings our next funding goal to:

Doubling the 2D art output.

Top 50 Game on Itch.io!

For a brief period of time after the launch of 0.2.24 RC Accursed: Emma’s Path entered into the top 50 games on the itch platform, SFW and NSFW! I think we even hit the top 10 in the New and Popular category!

Holy smokes! I wonder if that will be a recurring trend?

0.2.25s-1 Snapshot

To start the new year, our first patch will be 0.2.25s-1 which is finishing up and should be ready hopefully ready at the end of next week TM. I did make some good progress on it prior to Holiday travels. I am however in the midst of doing one more round of traveling back to the homeland as a family member passed at the end of 2024 and I would like to attend the funeral. So there is some additional delay from that.

The main areas I want to cover in the snapshot are updates and additions to the general store storyline, new repeatable mini-cgs, H-CGs, new character art, corruption system updates, quests and somewhat of a big reveal.

2D Art

And here is another small taste of of one the recent sketches for a recent piece! Active supporters can see full WIPs from sketches to completion in the discord every few days. I might do a proper [Art Update] post here but as always if you the latest head on over to #wip-art on discord!

We are also testing the waters with some improvements to the art pipeline including bringing some additional hands on deck to reduce Nut’s workload.

Congratulations on getting that trailer out there and its get to see the game receiving more and more support I remember when I first tried the game and it was still relatively bare bones and thinking wow this game has so much potential. Its great to see it getting there month by month. So again congrats on all the success so far and I bet this year will be an even better one.
