Hey everyone!
Thanks once again for being patient as we continue to work on 0.2.24. Without going into the details... at this point I don't think anything can stop the game from being worked on. We will always march towards 1.0 and my complete vision of A:EP. >:D
Now for some news/updates and our planned schedule going forward.
I sorta ended up over-engineering the general store job and shelving much of that work and will just condensed it into what you'll see in s-1. I did learn a lot from the different ways I tried tackling the problems presented to me.
Either way the way I was going was deviating from A:EP's goal. I want these all to be something I would find fun and they also need to mesh well with Emma's story.
And once again don't worry if you'd rather not play them regardless of what we come up. There will be the option to skip story-focused players in the options menu. It will be extra work to implement but I want give as many options to players as possible. This is your play-through, not mine. I will notate in-game what is the "intended" way to play.
I also just want to reiterate the shortlist of what to expect for s-1: new pixel art, A LOT of new 2d-art, improved barmaid mini-game, first iteration of general store job, at will cursed realm visitation and "curse quest" tracking, key remapping and more!
As of right now we are on track to ship s-1 on Saturday, the 31st. (
After s-1 I plan to release s-2 three weeks after and then 0.2.24 proper three weeks after s-2. We had originally planned to do a third snapshot but since s-1 has been delayed so long I don't see the need for it. Overall, 0.2.24 is really looking to be jam packed with new art.

We've done more pen and paper tests and are really liking it. Figuring out Emma is the current work since she is a bit unique. I don't think the full rework will make it in time for 0.2.24 but I'm hoping at least for partial implementation.

As for writing I just got done cleaning up a certain character's (re)introduction that will go live in this weekend's snapshot. It'll be fun to read fan theories again regarding this encounter.
I also did some work fleshing out the game's lore. I do this as it is another good way to "take a break" when my brain doesn't want to cooperate writing some specific scenes. I've also been working on wiki-fying the lore both for my own convenience and if we ever bring on other writers, it'd be a great reference tool for them.
Unfortunately it looks like we might have to look for a new mapper. I'm not sure if the mapper doing occasional work right right now will be taking any more jobs once the onsen maps are done. We'll play it by ear but I suppose it doesn't hurt to start looking early.
Honestly I might look towards getting two. One that specializes in tile-based and one for parallax-based.
