Podcast Questions

Hello everyone!

On this week's podcast we're going to be discussing prequels and the storytelling challenges that arise from telling a story which people mostly likely already know the ending to. If you have any additional topics you'd like us to think about and discuss please share!

Oh, and it was a very recent episode too.

I was thinking we'd probably get into the topic of spoilers at some point on this podcast, but we did talk about that exact study on a previous episode! https://youtu.be/tessNgz0RNA?t=677

What happened to the Sport RPG genre? Back on the GBA you had Mario Tennis: Power Tour and Mario Golf: Advance Tour. Which I had a blast playing them. Since the ps4, xbox one and switch, there hasn't been much. Golf story is the only sport RPG out there. I guess you could include the story mode in NBA 2k and UFC. I'm looking for a game that only focuses on the RPG and story.

Going along with the idea of prequels having to deal with the audience knowing the ending... What are your thoughts on spoilers? Some studies have shown spoilers actually increase enjoyment of the medium. https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/spoiler-alert-spoilers-make-you-enjoy-stories-more I think knowing the "destination" of the story, you're more along for the ride as an audience member in a figurative sense.

So apparently there's a medieval fantasy live-action role playing theme park in Pleasant Grove, Utah called "Evermore." Have you ever been there? Or even heard of it? I think it's a really interesting concept for environmental storytelling - you go on "quests" and so forth, talk to characters. It sounds like the kind of thing that could both really interest me, and that would really turn me off at the same time lol (I love the idea of inhabiting a fantasy setting, I hate role playing :P). What do y'all think?
