2023-02-09 03:25:58 +0000 UTCI think something that must be said here is that, yes, no one alive today is personally responsible for slavery, and in general people shouldn't be blamed for things their ancestors have done. But, I don't think that should be a defense for turning a blind eye to every day issues that remain today because of said ancestors' actions. It blows my mind that people can make the jump from "I didn't do this" to "there is no problem." I don't know who you are arguing with, but I would think that most people you are arguing with are in fact NOT actually saying that your ancestor's actions are your fault, and what they're actually arguing is something much more nuanced that I guess you just aren't capable of comprehending.

That's the standard for most modern legal systems in the world. The logic people should be held accountable for their ancestors goes against the human condition; which makes another element of AOT kind of silly.

To me it's comical the writers expect the audience to find a "nuanced" opinion between the two sides; like we're supposed to see the cycle of violence silliness from Marley's side. It's nonsensical. Marley is full blown Nazi Germany if Nazi Germany succeeded in a lot of it's goals. It's dumb to expect the viewer to understand their perspective when the writers don't give us any reason to.

If they wanted her to look and sound deranged and crazy and too far gone over the edge (that she even attacks her own friends), they succeeded by miles lmao. The sub VA was perfect too. She's been indoctrinated her whole life to believe that her own race is evil and that killing the "island devils" will salvage her. I'm not a "Gabi defender" I'm just saying that hating her this much just because she happened to be the one to kill Sasha is a little hypocritical. I mean she literally witnessed Sasha kill her allies right in front of her. The whole point of her character is to illustrate that there is no good or bad side in this fight, both have done atrocious things and it's all just a matter of perspective.

Your nation terrorize the entire world for thousands of years, you realized it's messed up and have the power to fix it, but you just dip and let all that damage and hateful history fester. So much doomer energy. Yes there are some truly evil people in this series like Gross or the OG King, yes what Eren is doing is absolutely awful, yes H-chan is H-chan, but for me Karl and Miss "Y" are the ultimate villain's of the story.
