It's just that they aren't afraid of using realistic shots like Western animators suddenly became. "Upskirts" used to be common in Western animation too. Even for kids. The animators weren't perving on the kid characters. They were just using shots to portray realistic motion and animation, rather than the unrealistic cardboard skirts that never move. People never used to care. The problem is that people that can never stop thinking about lewd behavior start projecting it onto everything to the point that everyone in the West has become overly conscious of it.

He thinks he’s telling Ichigo about shortcomings and rubbing it in his face because Ichigo can’t do anything about it. That and he probably thinks he’s too strong even if Ichigo did fix his mistakes. That it would just make the fight more fun.

2023-02-01 18:52:07 +0000 UTCIgnore this episode other than the fact that he fought Grand Fisher, wanted to do it alone, almost died, and Rukia allowed this because she didn't want to trample on his feelings. THEN, go watch the OVA of this because it's much better and closer to the manga version. lol Early Bleach had a lot of anime only things and inconsistencies. It gets better but it's a bit rough at first. I believe the OVA is called Memories in the Rain.

2023-02-01 18:28:17 +0000 UTCSo giant ass Manga and Anime differences and they actually have some lore implications. First is that Grand Fisher wasn't sent by other hollows in the manga. Instead he was just hunting and Karin saw his lure which peaked his interest. Second is that since the soul reaper that showed up was anime only the fight was much more condensed and he didn't give Ichigo that advice about the victims family. Also Ichigo's mom didn't have her ghost thoughts in the manga. Rather Ichigo just got pissed and slashed Grand Fisher who hopped into his lure that looked like Ichigo's mother to escape rather than just leap off like a frog. The last and most important difference is the epilogue for Grand Fisher. He meets with what appears to be a hollow surgeon who gives him shit for being beaten and then removes the top half of his hollow mask turning him into more human like form.
