Added 2020-05-09 07:57:09 +0000 UTCIf I can come clean, there was a Mary Sue Litmus Test (Currently retired) that I stumbled on a few years back, one of the questions to 'ground' your character was whether or not the character lacks a certain common skill and needs to take time and effort to learn it.
So I thought, literacy! Why not? A whole storyline could branch from the simple fact that the two main characters doesn't know how to read. Well, now they're going to learn and it's not going to be a snap for sure.
