I absolutely love that Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak are the best of friends, it makes their awkward moments even more funny for some reason. 🀣

Talked a lot over some good jokes. It's all good. It's nice to see yall having a good time together

i remember this ep so well. stanley's daughter, meredith's son, sad kid mike sigh SO GOOD!

You all win. The Office is just like Parks and Rec. It's all sunshine and rainbows. Please disregard my opinions. They named a major character David Wallace for no reason. Just a coincidence.

Not even close. If The Office stuck with the satire in season one throughout the entire run of the show, then you would have a good argument. It fails to remain true to itself throughout the series and forgets it's supposed to be a satire about the office environment in corporate America. Shows like Barry and Succession are darker comedies than The Office.

Fair point Mojo. Bojack is way darker. It is leagues away. That's why I mentioned it. No comedy show can compare.

MPH

Bojack is overtop BECAUSE of the extremely realistic darkness it portrays. Without the talking animals, it would be unbearable. Bojack hurts to watch even with the ridiculousness. The other shows he listed don't black mirrors like Bojack and The Office. South Park and Rick and Morty have their moments for sure, but I don't think they compare. You don't have to agree that it's one of the darkest shows ever. That's an opinion. But to dismiss it completely because it's subtle is just stupid.

MPH

The office isn't that dark compared to Bojack lol it's still leagues away

MojoJojoGojo

I know it's subtle and hard to notice for people with simple brains that consume 90% Disney and Marvel, but it is in fact a super dark show. The Normies literally address most of the dark moments in this episode. Michael's childhood and sad life, the neglected kid with an alcoholic mom in for a rough future, Pam's deep insecurity, Angela's cruelty, etc.

MPH

You are comparing cartoons and then talking about too over the top. A talking horse isn't too over the top huh? Be consistent my dude.

Shawn Brink

No way.

Twin Hallow

Those shows are so ridiculous and over the top. I love them all (except Family Guy), but I would argue that The Office's realism makes it way darker. It's subtle, but it paints a gross picture of ordinary, everyday people. Those other shows paint a dark picture of absurdly shitty bar owners, 4th graders in insane situations, and the smartest person in the multiverse. The people in The Office are regular folks, but they are so mean, narcissistic, petty, etc., leaving a trail of hurt people in almost every episode. Yes, there are more blatantly dark shows than The Office, but to anyone with a little intelligence and a critical mind, The Office is near the top of the list.

MPH

Always Sunny, South Park, Family Guy, Rick and Morty and many more all go to WAYYY darker places than the Office

Jachariah

This is the darkest comedy show after Bojack.
