I’ll preface this by saying: you all being angry and annoyed with Rue is fully justified. Almost every addict has alienated someone very close and that frustration from others is real. That being said, Ali wasn’t hyperbolizing when he said drugs make you into a different person. They rewire your brain to prioritize the drug over your basic needs. Your survival instincts exist increasingly for the drug and the drug alone. And on withdrawals, it is actual torture. No exaggeration in the slightest. And for someone like Rue who hasn’t been awake and sober for probably more than a few hours total in the last month plus…her body is tearing itself apart. Normal involuntary functions your body makes to accustom to stress, pain, panic, anything you can think of…every function has been going in overdrive or basically taking off for the last month because drugs were pushing those functions to their limit or compensating for them. During withdrawals, it’s a big ass sling shot where your body is freaking out cause it is only used to operating on the substance. Complete hell. And as to how long they can last, it really depends. Alcohol and opioids are typically the most grueling and often take about 3 to 6 days to recover from the biggest physical withdrawals. And that’s with medication/proper hospitalization. It can be much longer and deadlier without. Rue coming back from it is tricky but a big obstacle for a lot of people to staying clean is even believing they can. Really appreciate your reactions and thoughts.

jules has tried to help rue to the point where she was rues addiction, they are kids..its scary plus jules mom is also an addict, plus they are kids, and im sorry but if you just found out your best friend got a suitcase full of drugs from some drug dealer i would tell their mom too, theres only so much they can do as kids...

yes you are supposed to snitch wtf..... she had a suitcase full of drugs and was never gonna pay that lady back, rue was getting into problems that were way too big for herself to handle, they did the right thing telling her mom... and they are all teens going through theyre own things.... they did the right thing.....and your whole "confront rue about it" they have multiple times and she is a child in this case...she needs help...

Omg I love what everyone had to say abt this episode,this show really opened my eyes and see how addiction affects the person and the people around them,just something everyone should always think of cause it’s only getting worst,but really no solution.

Maybe we are different ages or something. I think when I was younger I probably would have agreed with you. I kept many secrets for my friends, but as an adult, I realize I should have told someone. Honestly, even if it means losing a friend, if you are saving them, it's the right thing to do. Breaking trust hurts but saving someone by doing that is worth it. This may ruin their friendship, but it will save Rue's life.

Never said I don’t like Jules or Elliot, I do like them. There conversations were not that deep. The time jules ever gave rue an actual ultimatum was beginning of the season 1. After that those were just short interactions if anything and Elliot has NEVERE stopped rue from doing anything. Just because it seems that she is too far gone doesn’t mean that you just give up and go through another source. That’s like saying if your best friend wanted to run away from home and they were determined to go so you just decided for yourself that you weren’t gonna try and stop them and instead went and told his parents. Like no lol that’s being a bad friend. Like idk about you. But your best friends are like your outlets. You tell them things you do not want to tell your parents. So for you to not even attempt to try and stop me from doing from whatever im doing and instead go straight to my mom lol honestly you are no best friend of mine. IF they weren’t all that close then sure whatever. Like if literally ANYONE else did this then I wouldn’t argue with rue being upset.

Rue is far too gone to just confront her about it now. Maybe if it was a first time thing, but with her history with drugs and how far she was from reality, an adult was needed. That's pretty obvious. Also, Jules already had multiple conversations about drugs with her, all which Rue just lied to get Jules off her case. Like at the party, on the bridge, etc. That was Jules confronting her multiple times, but she was brushed off every time or lied to. Of course the right choice was going to her mother. You don't have to like Jules and Elliot, but it was definitely the right thing to do.

No I never said them telling the mom in general is snitching. it’s only snitching because THEY never confronted rue about the issue. If they did and rue didn’t listen then sure go tell her mom. If you honestly don’t understand what I’m saying then that’s on you and that’s fine. Like Cassie’s mom calling rue’s mom is fine and that’s the right thing to do. And atleast TO ME the mom should’ve confronted rue about the suitcase instead of just immediately flushing them.
