The big bad mermaid now seems determined to just swim leisurely in your general direction, her mouth and throat both wide open. It's pretty clear she don't intend to stop. As far as she's concerned, If she somehow ends up swallowing you it was your fault for being too slow !

Letting her prey think they're just barely escaping as the water flows into her mouth, but she lets them swim out before her lips close. She knows she'll win, and how; but until the prey reaches the shore, she's going to toy with them & their emotions.
